Jeff Sessions Predicts Kagan Will Be A 'Radical' On The Supreme Court

Kagan

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R- Ala.) said this week that if confirmed, Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan would espouse "radical views" as a member of the high court.

Nevertheless, Sessions said: "She'll get her vote."

The senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee told ABC's Top Line on Wednesday that he would not filibuster Kagan.

"I don't think that I should feel any compunction to vote for this nominee, but I do believe that a filibuster is a high-burden," Sessions said. "I'm not prepared to do that. The Senate is not prepared to do that."

He said that Kagan's testimony was "more political spin" than an honest discussion of her "legal capacity." He added that she "failed as a solicitor general" by "not defending Don't Ask Don't Tell effectively."

Five Republicans have said they would vote for Kagan.

Who really cares what this Holy Republican Cults of Jesus Inc Weasel of insaniTEA has to say?
Sessions is far from a pillar of anything but segregation and hate.

The Roberts Supreme Court demonstrated it's Corporate Fascist radical agenda with Citizens United and it's long past time that true liberal voices were heard.

What we learn from this is that the majority of the electorate in Alabama have not gotten the concept of argumentum ad nauseum.

And, that Jeff Sessions is, cynically, taking advantage of their ignorance.

Too bad.

He didn't filibuster, there are probably many voters in Alabama who would have liked to see the "nauseum" go on longer.
I'd say Sessions steered to a moderate position relative to many of his voters.
or am I missing the point of your ad gratuitum latin?

1) "Compunction"? Who talks like this; and 2) Good. We need a few left radicals to balance out the right radicals placed by Bush.

Has anyone ever noticed that it's only certain types of people who use the word "radical" and "activist" when discussing a judge?

...but if they're willing to send us back 50 years through exclusion, then they're "upholding the Constitution.

Do you mean radical descisions like...

Corporations Unleashed: Landmark supreme court decision to allow unlimited spending in federal elections

Few people would describe large corporations as a sector of society suffering from a deficit of political power. Yet, corporate power increased dramatically on Jan. 21 when the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision in Citizens United v. FEC .....

....the Supreme Court 5-4 majority decision ....

(yep, all the right wing ideologues in the USSC voted "YES" and all the ones who value Democracy and "we the people" voted NO)
