Jessica Simpson In 'Lucky': Talks 'Making Peace' With Her Body (PHOTO)

First Posted: 08/05/10 11:25 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:15 PM ET

Jessica Simpson covers the September issue of Lucky, and inside she talks about "coming to terms" with her body:

Jessica Simpson has undergone a noteworthy personal style evolution, inspired, she says, by coming to terms with some serious body issues over the course of the last year. She stopped fighting her hourglass silhouette, for instance, after realizing that "we all obsess over looking like the perfect Barbie type, and that's not always what's beautiful. It's about making peace with yourself."

A month ago Jessica "shocked her system" with a vegan diet, but she claimed it was about health, not weight loss.

Will she come to terms with her limited talent?

You can tell just how desperate all the magazines are for ANY story. This woman has not had a hit song in nearly a decade. She has not been in a movie for nearly half a decade and has NEVER been in a hit movie. If there weren't too many gossip magazines out there scraping the bottom for any story possible, we wouldn't have heard anything about her for years.

So she's a little dense. She seems to be a sweet, sincere person. Damned cute too.

I agree.

I've never seen her in a movie or listened to her music, but there's something about her I like. Based on her interviews and compared to other celebs, she seems like a genuinely nice person.

Women of all shapes and sizes can be beautiful. I don't hold with the only-thin-is-beautiful ethos.
But I get so tired of these celebrities who say this same thing ALL of the time and then go on crazy-a$$ diets & cleanses for "HEALTH, not to lose weight", and then show up on red carpets looking like they have starved themselves into their designer dresses. Geez! Be honest! You have not made peace with your body, you never will make peace with your body and you are truly happy only when you look like a stick-figure. Simpson looks good both ways. But if she really accepted her body, she would finally settle on one and stick with it. JMO.

She has a very pronounced jaw but this photo makes her face look like the south end of a basketball.

Whoever assigned to photoshop this picture of Jessica either isn't very good or doesn't like her. She looks like she has been put on a torture rack. That's some extreme stretching.

Hey, bigger the better for me. I likes a girl with a little weight.

Does this mean she is no longer bothered that her fahrts do not smell like lavender and roses?

The truth here is that Jessica is not an "hourglass" shape. She has a wide waist relative to her hips and bust. So, she photographs wide when her weight is in her "high normal range." If she had a waistline that was another 2 or 3 inches smaller than her bust, she would not get the criticism she gets, and there would be no "mom jeans" articles and pics.

I have commented on this before, it is a type of discrimination against females. They are worshipped if they have small waists but criticized if they don't, even if both types put on weight (see Mariah Carey v. Beyonce).

There's nothing wrong with her body to "make peace with". She's a lot more attractive now than she was when she looked like an underaged, underfed pop tart.

A very sweet and pretty young woman at any weight.

the photoshopper for this cover has gone and uneccesarily curved her nice jaw line. She looks kinda weird here no?

They've also stretched her body unnaturally and completely removed her hips. So much for loving her body when the magazine obviously disliked it enough to photoshop it.

So, after years of making money from her looks, photo shoots, and other media where she took part in pushing an impossible ideal, she finds it too hard to maintain that ideal anymore and we're supposed to forget about the last 10 years.

Isn't it progress? It just could be that styles are changing.

But her booty keeps saying it is the biggest part of her.
