CeCe Heil, Another Sarah Palin-Backed Candidate, Bites The Dust In Tennessee

CeCe Heil, a Sarah Palin-backed candidate running for a House seat in Tennessee's 5th Congressional District, finished third Thursday night.

Sarah Palin-backed House candidate CeCe Heil finished third in the Republican primary race for Tenneessee's 5th Congressional District Thursday, handing the former Alaska Governor her second failed endorsement this week.

Back in July, Palin lent her support to Heil in a Facebook post that described the "mama grizzly" as a "small business owner, attorney, constitutional scholar, and proud mother of two" who would "fight tirelessly to protect our freedoms and rein in the excesses of an out-of-control federal government that seems set on spending away our children's future."

Heil, who prominently featured her Palin connection on her campaign website, tallied less votes than both Jeff Hartline, the second place finisher endorsed by Mike Huckabee, and the eventual victor, businessman Dave Hall. The top three finishers in the contest were separated by a mere 350 votes.

Hall will go on to face Democratic incumbent Jim Cooper, who has served in the House since 2003.

Earlier this week, Todd Tiahrt, Sarah Palin's candidate in the Republican battle for Kansas Senate, lost to Congressman Jerry Moran in a tight race that was likely to decide the state's next senator. A Democratic Senate candidate has not won there since 1932.

Palin will have more chances to test her mettle in August. Karen Handel will be on the ballot next week in Georgia's 's Republican gubernatorial primary runoff, while Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona, former NFL tight end and Washington Senate hopeful Clint Didier, and Tea Party-backed Alaska Senate challenger Joe Miller will also face voters in primaries later this month.

The best person fer a job is never a candidate

Is it my imagination, or has Sarah gotten some physical augmentation recently? The fabric across her Super K-Mart blouse seems overly stretched. Or maybe candidate is standing in front of one of those card board images that are so popular among hack politicians (Photoshop works wonders you know!) when they can't afford to pay Sarah her appearance fee or cover her travel expenses.

A New Hampshire candidate for the state house is taking heat from the state Republican Party after he wrote on a Facebook thread that he wishes former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and the father of her grandson were in the plane crash that killed former Sen. Ted Stevens in Alaska on Monday.

“Just wish Sarah and Levy (sic) were on board,” wrote Keith Halloran, a Democratic candidate for Cheshire County House District 7, referencing Palin and Levi Johnson, the on-again, off-again boyfriend of her daughter.

Stevens and four others died in the crash after the plane headed to a fishing trip slammed into the side of a mountain in Alaska.

The comment from Halloran was in response to a post on Facebook from Republican state Rep. DJ Bettencourt about Steven’s death, who said, “I find it truly sad and sickening that some folks can’t find a way to be positive or at least keep quiet about someone when they pass away.”

The New Hampshire GOP called Holloran’s “outrageous comment” a “new low, even by the standards of the New Hampshire Democrat (sic) Party.”

“His publicly stated death wish for Governor Palin and her family is abhorrent, and has no place in our public discourse,” said NHGOP communications director Ryan Williams.

Two years of attacks against Sarah Palin have failed miserably
*
A very pro-Palin post by Daniel Bruski at Right News Channel. A few excerpts:
The 2008 presidential election has been done for almost two years now, and the constant attacks against Sarah Palin have failed miserably. She’s currently the endorsement candidates across America are seeking, and her approval rating among Republicans has skyrocketed – it is 76% according to a Gallup Poll conducted on July 16. Among all Americans, on the same Poll, it stands at 44%. In my opinion, I believe Palin’s favorable ratings among Republicans and all Americans will strengthen as time goes by. It has no reason not to.

Her image is improving and more people are finally seeing that she is on our side, she is just like the rest of us: a real American that sees the real problems Americans are currently facing. Sarah Palin understands that we need real Conservatives to stand up and work on the side of the people, and not for their own special interests like the Democrats are doing in Congress, the White House, and in states throughout America. People can plainly see that she’s the real deal, and that she is a vigilant fighter. The former Alaska Governor is fighting alongside the common people, the people who are fighting to bring America back on track towards the values our Founding Fathers envisioned for us all over two-hundred years ago.

Sarah Palin isn’t going away...

Three cheers for Sarah. Now will she come to California and endorse Meg Whitless and former HP ceo Carly Fioria (spellcheck).

The right has now gone with the Stepford strategy. Blank upstairs, programable with pretty face and brickheaded.

Works best as a presidential candidate... Ronnie was a low level actor yet a folksy corporate spokesperson - all they needed! Sarah could be the same!

Good ol' secret formula!

All you screwballs that think Palin will run in 2012 are outta your minds!
No way in HE LL she'll run......
She'll continue to threaten though, because that makes all you suckas fill her coffers.
But run, NOPE! No money in running....but there's plenty of money in it for her just to threaten.
11:15 AM on 08/10/2010
Not sure what the "threat" is. She's turning out to be the kiss of death for anyone she endorses. I hope she keeps endorsing and staying visible -- a great help to the Dems.

From Slate:

"Tina Fey's caricature of Palin as an unprepared high-school student trying to bluff her way through an oral exam by mugging and flirting hit its mark not merely because of the genius of the mimicry, but because of its fundamentally accurate diagnosis of Palin as bullsh-t artist. Palin's exuberant incoherence testifies to an unusually wide gulf between confidence and ability. She is proud of what she doesn't know and contemptuous of those "experts" and "elitists" who are too knowledgeable to be trusted. This curious self-regard echoes through her book, Going Rogue.....

......The issue is that she rarely appears to have the slightest grasp of what she's talking about even when she's supposed to know what she's talking about. For instance, in one of the 2008 campaign's most surreal examples of rhetorical excess, John McCain said Palin "knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America." A few days later, she offered a sample of her expertise in a town hall meeting: "Oil and coal? Of course, it's a fungible commodity and they don't flag, you know, the molecules, where it's going and where it's not. ... So, I believe that what Congress is going to do, also, is not to allow the export bans to such a degree that it's Americans that get stuck to holding the bag without the energy source that is produced here, pumped here."

Put perfectly. Sister Sarah is NOT stupid, she's mostly just lazy, uneducated and generally clueless.

Didn't serve her term, going for the bucks. That's what I want in my public servants, the willingness to say f**-off to her constituents and go with a better offer.

Executive? A self employed ditch digger is more of an executive.

It will be...I'm envisionizing a Palin Presidency as we speak. I see the President quitting the job approximately two years into her reign. She'll resign because, hey, this job diverts you from the most important things in life like, watching television or melting up some nice hot and tasty velveta.

You're ALL wrong! The Presidency is the high pedestal from which she will receive constant adoration and attention. She'll stick it out, leave the country in tatters, and then get rich again from a new ghost-written post-presidency book and a new line of makeup.

Sarah Palin has endorsed a few candidates. Those that win will probably be helping her if she decides to pursue higher office. She has endorsed 6 candidates that have lost so far this year. And more that have won. I am not sure she would be a good candidated herself. She seems to irritate the liberal communists. That may or may not be good...

Irritate? Don't flatter yourself. As a "liberal" you try to project upon, I can tell you that many of us slow down to watch to see what incredibly stupid thing is going to emit next from the dilly from Wasilly. She is the source of our drinking games, and too many nights I have trouble staggering my way back to my room. Bullshots when she lies, Nutty Monkeys when she blathers nonsense, and White Russians when she talks about her foreign experience with Putin.
