Colbert Unveils Master Plan To 'Ruin' Gay Marriage (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/06/10 10:51 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:15 PM ET

Stephen Colbert took his mockery of the conservative pundit to new levels last night while discussing the wake of Prop. 8 being overturned. Making the point that there is no "gay" marriage, just regular marriage that gay people are also entitled to, Colbert concluded that the whole idea of marriage now is "kinda gay." In a hilarious and lengthy segment, Colbert unveils his long-winded plan to ruin same-sex marriages as a retaliation. Let's just say it involves a lot of time spent in wine country and about 10 years of your life.

I only wish there were political comedians this clever and savvy in Mexico, where the Supreme Court just ruled on marriage equality as well.

For some reason, I can only seem to watch the first half of this segment. Then I am tempted by TLC.

Wait, "Jonathan"? A Rabbi? He's not referring to a certain Jewish Jon that we all know, is he?

I was thinking the same thing. Remember Michael Patrick King (director of Sex & the City) on the Daily Show? He told us the story of how he came out to Jon right before they left for a drive up to Big Sur for a wedding. Suspiciously similar set up...

I have set forth to enact this plan. To make it easier for me, I already live in San Francisco. Anything for Colbert Nation.

Colbert doesn't phone it in that's for dam sure, this is absolutely brilliant on so many levels. That alone is worthy of an Emmy nomination.

Nobody combines the satiric bite with such pathos and truth - not to mention his perfect fake crying. The question about the "Russian" mail order wives being still legal was the absolute cherry on the top of this brilliant monologue. *grabby hands* EMMY plz.

This was one of the best pieces of satire I have seen, well...maybe ever! Hysterically funny and brilliant on about a dozen levels! Colbert and Co. restore my faith in humanity every night! Colbert, never, ever change!

I believe one of the initial tests for Alzheimer is the reaction to sarcasm. I wonder how many conservatives would pass that test. Hmmm.
