Laura Bush Flight 93

PITTSBURGH — Former first lady Laura Bush will speak at an event marking the ninth anniversary of the crash of Flight 93 in western Pennsylvania during the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

The National Park Foundation made the announcement Friday, a day before a joint meeting of the Flight 93 Memorial Task Force and the Flight 93 Federal Advisory Commission. Bush says she's honored to speak at the site and that we "must never forget the brave sacrifice of these extraordinary men and women."

Flight 93 was traveling from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco when hijackers took it over on Sept. 11, 2001. It crashed in a field near Shanksville, killing everyone aboard.

Construction on a permanent memorial to the victims is under way. The memorial's first phase is expected to be dedicated in time for the 10th anniversary of the crash in 2011.

This is an affront. The attacks came because her husband and his advisors ignored excellent intelligence reports warning of the imminence of the threat, and hints as to the form it might take. No one remotely connected with that administration could say anything I want to hear about the events of that day.
09:57 PM on 08/08/2010
Will she talk about how her husband spent months of vacation on the 'ranch' clearing brush while terrorists plotted the World Trade Center attack? Will she comment on his reaction to the PDB, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike US?"

They should of found some one more appropriate.

How she explain to the people how and why the GOP struck down the bill to help the responders.
07:11 PM on 08/08/2010
SPIN SPIN SPIN Ask Nancy why she wanted a 2/3 majority for this bill when they had 250+ in the bank.

well said!

Because of the ridiculous amendments the Republicans were going to tack on to this legislation to make the Democrats look bad for that portion of it! So you can spin, spin, spin all you want, but the Republicans are using issues like first responders, fire fighters, police, etc. just to try to regain their political power. They could care less who gets hurt along the way.

Well it's a good thing these blind folks are going to hear more impossibilities about whatever happened out there! Laura will have to convince the unconvinced that Flight 93 crash at that spot and pieces of the plane and engines bounced up to 10 miles away and that's why all the pieces got gathered up in secrecy in just a day. It wasn't Georgie that had it shot it was Dickie-doo she might tell them but I doubt this trained liar will have any truth to disseminate.

Interesting -- is this what happened to the plan that hit the Pentagon too?

Nope! That plane was entirely sucked into the hole in the empty part of the Pentagon and the impact entirely vaporized the whole plane including the wings and tail and engines and everything AND all videos of that event were confiscated by the 'authorities also too! It was truly a day that defied physics dontcha know!

Would that Laura Bush was more like Nancy Reagan. Nancy pushed back when she saw that others in his administration were damaging Reagan's presidency and by extension the country. Laura did nothing but try and keep George sober. Not nearly enough. She bears a lot of the guilt for the Bush/Cheney war crimes.

Will she explain why Bush let this happen on his watch, despite being explicitly warned in a written document that it was being planned?

He probably didn't even read the memo - too busy thinking about what was coming on the lunch menu.

At least she has a heart. I can't blame her for decisions her Husband has made, She's a nice woman who married the wrong man.
10:40 AM on 08/08/2010
A HEART????????????????????????????????

Name one thing she did to prevent the destruction and suffering Bush heaped on this country and the world.
10:41 AM on 08/08/2010
You can certainly blame her for the decisions her husband made. She stood by him. She didn't work like the rest of us did to try to prevent the horrible things Bush did to the nation. She just sat there in her castle and ate bon bons and got plastic surgery. She's more like her mother-in-law, just better trained to speak softly and stick to scripts.

More like her mother-in-law, I think not. Her MIL was known for speaking her mind to her family, at least, and she confronted her son "W" on all of his "religiosity". Of course, the son was not like his father, either. Sadly, all of those kids took a back seat to the career of their father and just throwing money at kids for their obligatory educations in the obligatory institutions will not make for a successful, healthy adult. The sons are nothing to speak of, with the exception of Jeb, and I dislike his politics of late. The family has been personally subsidized financially by the Saudi Royal Family for years.

All told, however, these two women were the least influential First Ladies in my memory, with Laura seemingly passive and lazy. She went to lunch a lot, buffed up herself in the WH gym, and pretty much just lived her own life, doing what she wanted to do, which was just take care of herself. She just endured, it seems, the only way she knew how, and, in all fairness, after the first 6 years of a free pass that her husband was given, it would have been pointless to put herself out there, but, she wasted a lot of time and opportunity and need of others in those first 6 years.
10:35 AM on 08/08/2010
So she's still willing to be used by the neocons in their effort to control the Middle East to make money.

Every time she comes out with some lame comment and the world fawns over her because it isn't in Karl Rove's scripts, remember this: The only thing she accomplished as First Lady was to help soft-sell Bush's wars. Oh, and she suggested kids should read (we really needed her to tell everyone this at a few luncheons because the reason some kids don't read is because kids don't ever hear that, right?).

I wonder how much it cost for the Bush twins to go to South America without their parents? I didn't hear Rush Limbaugh whining about that, at the time.
