Bill O'Reilly: Jennifer Aniston 'Destructive To Our Society'

Bill Oreilly Jennifer Aniston

Bill O'Reilly says recent comments Jennifer Aniston made about the role of men in child-rearing are "destructive to society."

"Women are realizing more and more knowing that they dont have to settle with a man just to have a child," Aniston said while promoting her film, "The Switch."

While O'Reilly acknowledged the strength of single mothers, he said that single-parenting is "possible, but it's not optimum, and that's where Ms. Aniston makes her mistake.

"She's throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, 'Hey, you don't need a guy! You don't need a dad!' That's destructive to our society," he said.

And he added that Aniston is "diminishing the role of the dad" in making such comments.

"Aniston can hire a battery of people to help her, but she cannot hire a dad," he said. "And dads bring a psychology to children that is, in this society, underemphasized. I think that men get hosed all day long in the parental arena...any man who leaves their children is not a man. Let's make that perfectly clear. But the fathers who do try hard are underappreciated and diminished by people like Jennifer Aniston. she's diminishing the role of the dad."

For once, I can agree with Jen. Bill as usual is putting words into other people's mouths. Jennifer Anniston didn't say fatherhood is irrelevant in our society, she was merely stating the fact that women today have more options to become a mother than they did in the past. The same men who complain about Anniston's opinions also decry the type of women who try to "trap" a man in a marriage and have children. Guys, you can't claim to be a victim of feminism any more than a woman can. Either be honest with yourself and you partners that you do or don't want to be father (even if it means potentially loosing your partner). It's all about making smart choices we can live with.

And this news why?

Giving Bill-O the clown any more press for his asinine comments has to be of questionable value.

Bill's message is "ABUSIVE." He is tacitly giving women the message to "stay with the men at all costs." He needs to visit some Domestic abuse shelters.

He is right - Bristol Palin is a much better role model for 12 - 14 yr old girls.

Having her happy face on some magazine cover every few months with her little baby in her arms, that definately is sending out a better message to girls - - I really don't think Jennifer at 40 is as big an influence on girls as Bristol, Britney, Miley, Lindsey and the rest. And Jennifer made a comment - Bristol is doing photo-ops !

I guess for some people, a manufactured controversy is better than no controversy at all.

In the last two generations we've diminished the importance of parenting entirely, not just fathers. Women pop out kids and expect that they will raise themselves or that society at large ("It Takes A Village", don't forget!) will raise them. Then they're shocked when the kids grow up adrift, without connections to any value system.

Aniston may not be "the problem", but as Jon Stewart might say, "You're not helping!"

The Palins are good examples of this. Inviting your 16 year old's boyfriend to move into her bedroom was not exactly "good Christian values parenting" I do not know anyone who thinks doing something like that is a good idea.
