Fall TV 2010: The MOST Anticipated New Shows (VIDEOS)

First Posted: 8/11/10   Updated: 5/25/11

The new television season is just around the corner, and many are wondering what the new hit shows will be. Well, wonder no more. Research firm New Media Metrics has released its annual study of audience anticipation, breaking down what shows people are most looking forward to--and which ones they'll watch. The study is based on measurements of viewers' "emotional attachment" to the concepts of the upcoming shows. NMM says it was able to predict the Nielsen ratings for every television show with 85% accuracy last year based on these measurements.

Below, see the network shows audiences are dying to see the most--and tell us if you're looking forward to them too, or if you can't even stand to think about them being on the air.

1. Hawaii Five-O — CBS
1 of 15
The revamp of the classic '60s cop show scored a 3.2 on NMM's 11-point scale. (The most popular returning show this year scored a 4.2, so this is a pretty good ranking.)

I watched the original Hawaii Five-0 as a kid and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I will continue to watch the new Five-0. Fox's LoneStar is also worth watching.

Looks like I'll be watching more SciFi this fall! The only show that looks promising is Hawaii Five-0!!

I'll stick to cable, Covert Affairs is the best out this season.

Nothing really strikes me but at least most aren't reality shows..
I'll stick with my favorite- 'Life Unexpected'

Most of these will be terrible - for every one good network show, there are 10 that are awful. All the best stuff is on cable.

ALL of these look bad. I'm sticking with Lie to Me till it gets bad.

I love Burn Notice and I kinda like the Glades.... cause Florida IS filled with lunatics, but it is very difficult to find someone with wit....much less a cop. I guess I'm partial to those shows though since I'm stuck in the swamp..... as long as they don't include that red haird bad actor that wears mascara on CSI Miami. Now THAT's bad acting.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad I don't have to waste time checking ANY of these out.

No mention of The Walking Dead? From the channel that gave us Mad Men and Breaking Bad? I, for one, welcome out October-premiered undead overlords.

Wow, Fall's looking pretty grim. I'm guessing the millionaire-in-the slums show will be the most obnoxious. Or wait, one of the other 14 might be worse. The Law & Order promo was the most informative. But then what is there to say?

I don't like Keri Russell, but Will Arnett is good so, I may give that one a try. I LOVE SVU, so I'll give the new law & order a try--should be really good. I have no interest in the Shatner show, ditto for the Michael Chiklis one. The Detroit show looks good and so does Outsourced (good concept). The secret millionaire will be interesting, no doubt. And as usual everything is all whitewashed, aside from Outsourced. Good ol' American television. The U.S. may be more diverse than ever, but primetime is still as white as ever. Keep up the good work, networks!!! :(

This is what we have to look foward too? No wonder I don't watch much TV anymore.

Although I am looking forward to seeing super "Hottie McHotterson" Alex O'Loughlin in Hawaii 5-O! Loved him in Moonlight (which I am still mad at CBS for cancelling)! Other than that, everything else looks blah....

Not one of the proposed series above will make it. Or, perhaps I should say, not one of the proposed series above should make it. With a few exceptions, it all looks very familiar.

Love Bites looks the most promising to me, but then again i love desperate housewives and soap operas and cast with female leads so i'm biased.

More sitcoms --- including one with a title that has to be bleeped. A couple more reality shows --- cheap to make and at least they don't seemed to be focused on tattoo parflors and pawn shops, although looks like the millionaires may be visiting some trashy neighborhoods, assuming they ARE millionaires and not just actors or models playing millionaires like on some of those bachelor and bachelorette shows.

At least there's a new "Law & Order" franchise, which can be watched in marathons on some of the cable networks during holiday weekends .And, oh, boy, remakes of "Hawaii 5-0" and "The Defenders." Why do I have the feeling Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi will pale in comparison to the classic 1960s legal series that starred E.G. Marshall and Robert Reed?

Not many new concepts here. Just reworkings of stuff from the past.

Any chance of getting "Secret Millionaire" to film an episode in Harrogate, Tennessee?
