Betsey Johnson celebrated her 68th birthday yesterday in SoHo and for the occasion, she painted the town pink. The designer wore a frilly pink frock and rode in on a salmon-colored bike while her staff donned hot pink tube dresses and arrived in a matching limo.
The Cut caught up with Betsey to drill her on how she manages to look so fresh-faced. Betsey revealed that when she was younger, Tina Turner was her icon (although Tina is only two years older than Betsey herself). "I thought, 'That's the kind of woman I want to be when I grow up.' You know, gorgeous and strong and still performing no matter how old. So I try to be a good old model for young kids." Betsey also mentioned her "surgeries" and shared some advice: "Get a good doctor! For crying out loud, pay the money to have a good doctor!"
