Bruce & Kris Jenner On Kendall's Modeling Career, 'Gorgeous' Bikini Shots

Bruce and Kris Jenner said they are totally supportive of 14-year-old daughter Kendall's budding modeling career.

Kendall, half sister to the Kardashian girls and a fellow costar on 'Keeping up With the Kardashians,' made news with a bikini spread she shot this summer, with dad Bruce previously saying he loved the pics.

At a press event for the television show's upcoming season, the Jenner parents said they encourage Kendall's career.

"One of her lifelong passions is to be a model, and it's something she's really excited about," Kris Jenner told PEOPLE.

She added, "They're tasteful, she's covered up completely and they're not provocative. They're just gorgeous shots."

Meanwhile Bruce said, "I sat down with her and said 'If I see school slipping, that's not going to work. You're going to stop until you're out of school,'" he said. "Last year she had her best year ever, so I encourage it. I think it builds a lot of character in a young person so I have no problem with them starting early."

Meanwhile Kendall's younger sister Kylie, who turned 13 this week, is also now modeling.

Aside from the fact that the majority of the poses are too provocative for a fourteen year old, I'd like to address the fact that this child is going to grow up thinking that the only thing that matters is her looks. She is probably an intelligent young lady, likely she even has a good soul. But these things will be pushed aside for pursuing only things based on her physical appearance, and heaven forbid her looks should fade or she should put on weight. She is being set up for a very dysfunctional relationship with life. Sadly, I foresee an eating disorder and/or lots of plastic surgery in a vain attempt to keep her current youth and beauty in her future.

Girls can also get pregnant at 14 (or 12...). Doesn't mean it's a good thing...

There's also a difference between modeling for a JCPenney catalog and this stuff. Those shots were really inappropriate for a 14 year old for so many reasons (let's start with the makeup if the cleavage doesn't bother you - why should a kid look like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark? They do the same thing to the child when she's modeling regular clothes, I just don't get it.). She also was posed to arouse men, not to sell swimware to girls. Plus of course these shots have now circulated widely around the internet, thanks to her helpful big sister Kim. I don't think that's because the girl is so "stunningly beautiful" that all men, women, and children around the world just can't keep their eyes off her in a purely artistic response. Put her in regular clothes and more natural, age-appropriate poses and see how much interest it generates. Show simple headshots of her looking like a natural 14 year old, without being caked in Elvira makeup, and see what happens to the response.

She can model other types of clothing in poses natural for a 14 year old not in training to be a hooker or stripper. Instead, her parents decided to go for the money shots. They've proven again and again that they have the judgment of a gerbil, so it's not surprising.

The Jenners/Kardashians appear to have done a good job raising their kids. None are in rehab or jail; you don't read about any of them going out on the town and making fools of themselves. It is said that the kids are very polite and professional.

And as many have pointed out, this is the way the family makes its living. The fouteen year old daughter has now joined the family business. This is nothing new and should not be surprising.

caroilt, you have totally convinced me, but I still don't like them. I can't explain it. The closest I can come is like a really bad movie that you walk out on before it's over and you really don't care how it ended. The Kardashian's may be nice, but I am not entertained bu them. I would like to see the space their stories occupy to be filled in with something more interesting.

Actually, the youngest Kardashian (Khloe) came close to jail and court-mandated rehab. Drunk driving, she blew off the court's instructions and violated her probation, ending up with a jail sentence. She went through the celebrity revolving door when she surrendered for jail, and then they all went out drinking to celebrate. (I am not exaggerating, they really did. First thing they thought of...)

Since Khloe is still a heavy drinker (and yes, she does go out on the town and get really drunk and make a fool of herself), it's just a matter of time before she messes up again unless her handlers keep a very close watch on her. Middle sister Kim is wise enough to avoid alcohol even while clubbing, from what I've heard. But Khloe shows all the signs of having a problem with it.

Their other oddities probably won't ever get them in trouble with the law, I'll grant you that, unless some of their financial finaglings push them over the edge into more courtroom drama. (They've already had some trouble in that area.) Or if laws are passed against bad acting in a badly scripted soap opera (aka "reality show", in the spirt of 1984).

Not a fan of any Kardashian, but how is this any different from any other teenager modeling bikinis? All the teen fashion magazines have girls in swimsuits. Even the Macy's circulars have photos of kids or teens in swimwear.
