New Hampshire State Legislator Timothy Horrigan has resigned from his duties after speculating about the death of Sarah Palin.

Timothy Horrigan, a Democratic legislator in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, has resigned Thursday after earlier speculating about the death of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

"I don't wish Sarah Palin dead ... but not merely for compassionate reasons...Well a dead Palin wd be even more dangerous than a live one...she is all about her myth & if she was dead she cldn't commit any more gaffes," Horrigan wrote Wednesday on Facebook, according to New Hampshire's Union Leader.

Horrigan stepped down quickly Thursday, penning a resignation letter to Speaker of the House Terie Norelli apologizing for "thoughtless remarks" which he said brought the New Hampshire "House into disrepute." Horrigan also wrote that he would be discontinuing his reelection campaign.

Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley responded to Horrigan's resignation, saying that he "took the appropriate action by resigning today," and calling his rhetoric "inappropriate" and "out of line."

Horrigan's remarks came just hours after Keith Halloran, a Democratic New Hampshire House candidate, publicly expressed, via Facebook, his wishes that "Sarah and [Levi] were on board" the plane that tragically crashed in Alaska, killing former Sen. Ted Stevens and four others. Halloran has since apologized for his comment.

Apart from Horrigan's legislating duties, the Democrat from Strafford County District 7 has also spent the past few years trying to develop a career as an author. He has published a book, titled "The Forgotten Liars," and is also a "fairly active member" of the popular "Second Life" online community.

(According to his autobiography, Horrigan is also single and looking -- both for a mate and a new job.)

Sarah will defeat herself eventually. I truly dispise this woman who has made both a mockery & fortune off the American political system.

Resign? Foolish. Give him a medal.

I wish someone would watch/listen to everything Palin does. She will cross the line and should be jailed too for inciting rioting, being anti-government, anti-US, etc. This NH lawmaker is not the only one who wishes she would go away.

What about red cross hairs on people Palin wanted out of the running? (Yet Fox supported her and those of her ilk, seeming to promote this kind of political theatrics and demeanor.)What about spitting on US Congressional Persons during/as the health bill passed, that was even captured on TV? This person in the quote clearly expressed that he didn't want her dead? just what would happen. And that it could be worse if she died, then they'd call her Saint Sarah? So the take away from this would be dangers of a Democrat speculating on FB. Um ...interesting.

Oh please, if this were a Republican talking about a Democrat, he wouldn't resign, and he'd become a new folk hero of the party. Dems, please grow a set.

Wow, this came out of nowhere. If I had time, I'd go to the local NH newspapers and see what the background story involves.

Does anyone remember last year when Christians were quoting and praying over psalm 109 ? They thought they were praying for the Presidents demise . Remember that ?

Palin is a dangerous person. I've said this from the moment I heard her at the Republican convention in 2008. It's even more evident now. She doesn't invite discussion, she incites violence, and I wish her as much misery personally as she has caused the country. If you love her and want to attack me so you can "protect" your queen, just know this... she's not ANYONE'S friend.

TruGal, I love what you said. $arah's supporters are so blinded by......well......I don't know, a complete fraud. All you Failin supporters, she'd stab you in the back in an absolute nano-second dare you disagree with her. Your "Queen of Narcissim" is rotten through and through. I bet if Tawd acted up she'd off him in a nano-second too! It's sad to see her sheep's loyalty. It's sooooooo not reciprocated. Fanned.

Sarah Palin: Legitimate Questions for the President
*
Gov Palin has some questions for President Obama, and she posted them on Facebook Saturday:
Legitimate Questions for the President

Mr. President, should they or should they not build a mosque steps away from where radical Islamists killed 3000 people? Please tell us your position. We all know that they have the right to do it, but should they? And, no, this is not above your pay grade. If those who wish to build this Ground Zero mosque are sincerely interested in encouraging positive "cross-cultural engagement" and dialogue to show a moderate and tolerant face of Islam, then why haven't they recognized that the decision to build a mosque at this particular location is doing just the opposite? Mr. President, why aren't you encouraging the mosque developers to accept Governor Paterson's generous offer of assistance in finding a new location for the mosque on state land if they move it away from Ground Zero? Why haven't they jumped at this offer? Why are they apparently so set on building a mosque steps from what you have described, in agreement with me, as "hallowed ground"? I believe these are legitimate questions to ask.

Here's what I don't get...if Palin wants an answer from the President, why is she posting the question on Facebook? Like he has time to be browsing through Facebook. Here's a wild guess, she's not addressing the question to the President; she's not looking for an answer from him. She's looking to provoke fear, anger and hate in the American public.
12:41 PM on 08/15/2010
Like usual. Different day, same type of rant. Ho hum.
12:53 PM on 08/23/2010
She's the Protagonist in a novel that she's writing for herself....she provokes and provokes and when she gets what she wants out of someone, she turns cutesy and rants and raves about their answer regardless of the belief behind it. She needs to start a new chapter or a new book. This one is stale already, crusty and smelly...

There has got to be another reason for his resignation. Either he didn't want the job anymore or he there is some bigger story that hasn't come out yet. Those comments warranted a brief apology, not a resignation.

I agree with you. More rancorous things have been said by politicians on both sides without a resignation. An apology would have been acceptable, and I am no Democrat. Of course, I am no Republican either.

agree, whats the real story not being told?
01:39 PM on 08/15/2010
the real story is most likely if a rethug says it, it's gold; if a Democrat says it, it's hate speech...
12:55 PM on 08/23/2010
The real story: Palin is "not retreating from him", but "Reloading"...

I find Sarah Palin to be a disgusting person/ mother/ governor but I don't think anyone should talk like that about her. But then, if they do I don't know why they should resign. It's a matter of free speech.

Yeah look at all the special care she gives to her Down Syndrome son...... Does she do anything for him at all?
