Mail Online:

Tony Ellis and his wife, Judie, do not have any children or animals at home - but with chatterbox robot Aimec following them around, there is never a dull moment.

The couple effectively have a robotic child, just like in the 2001 futuristic fairy tale Artificial Intelligence starring Haley Joel Osment.

Nice, if not misleading, file photo. Who doesn't love the appeal of a robot with glowing eyes staring at you from the corner of the room?

This article forgets to mention the part where the child's real brother awakens from a coma and gets in a fight with the robotic child who then hurts the petulant, whiny organic child which causes the robotic child to be kicked out onto the streets where it meets and befriends a gigalo bot who then accompanies it on a quest to become real and then the world ends.

And then Stanley Kubrick dies and Steven Spielberg ruins the ending with aliens.

Pointless, they could have adopted a real child or helped children, but they build a robot. They don't want kids, they want a tool.

Yeesh. How sad. Somebody watched "A.I. - Artificial Intelligence" too many times.

Ok, here is an idea: How about taking that same money and instead of spending it on a rich man's toy, spend it on helping real children in need, maybe making a difference that way?

Given what this robot does, regardless of what it looks like, it is at best a mechanical pet. Children, even robotic ones, would have to be a tad more complex.

Whenever I babysit my niece, I spend about 2-3 hours throwing a ball across the room and letting her chase it.

There is some eerie truth to this.
