PHOTOS: Cats Work It At Feline Fashion Show

First Posted: 08/13/10 02:40 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:20 PM ET

Feline fashion hit the Algonquin Hotel on Thursday night, and, thankfully, Gothamist was there to document the costumed cats on film. We've put five of our favorite kitties in an album for your viewing pleasure below. Scroll through and let us know which has stolen your sartorial heart with its furry, little, dressed-up paws.

This really should be animal cruelty.

Well... um, huh?
This is just bizarre!

If looks could kill... this would be an appropriate occasion.
Are you listening, Universe?

I wonder how many eyes got scratched while preparing for this kitty travesty...

None of these kitties looks very pleased. I would advise their owners to check their shoes each day for a VERY long time.

Don't they look thrilled. Next thing you know the designers will make them wear stilettoes.

Why is it any more cruel to dress an animal in a clown costume than it is to dress your kid in a clown costume? Nobody is that comfortable dressed as a clown.

I'm not saying we staple reindeer antlers to their heads, but my mom's dog actually wears a tiny parka and booties to keep warm in the winter, and she doesn't like it any better/less than the flapper costume we occasionally bedeck her out in for halloween dog parades. And both dog and mom live in western virginia--Zelda eats socks and dog poop if she can find it...crazy old coot...the dog is just as bad...jk :) dog=Zelda

*oops no clown-costumes, but my point is the same--I think I was taken w/their riveting expressions...

I classify this as cruel because cats don't typically wear clothes. If it's Winter, I'm guessing most owners would (should!) have their cats inside, and therefore they wouldn't ever need clothing.
I guess it can be different with dogs, as they still need to toilet outside and go for walks in Winter - so a non-restricting parka would be appropriate.

As for dressing up a child, I wouldn't go as far to say that it is 'cruel' - perhaps embarrassing, but it's most likely they will be too young to remember or even care.

Have you ever seen a more p'ssed off cat than cat #1? I don't think I have. Poor Kitty. I bet she's going to get some revenge, somehow, someway.

I know. 2 and 5 are equally p'ssed.

I know! LOL #2 looks like she is plotting her revenge and #5 is glaring. Cat power! They WILL get retribution, we can count on it. (Poor kitties.)

Poor kitty cats--they look like they know they look silly.

I have to admit, though, that the one with the Elvis hair is totally hilarious!

People are a lot less attractive to me than any animals, especially when they are cruel to helpless creatures.

You ought to see the owners. Crippled inside.

These poor cats look absolutely miserable and p----d off! I don't blame them. Why do people do stuff like this? My own cats are cute and precious without costumes. I would never put them through something like this and they would never stand for it.
