Denver Judicial Building Implosion VIDEO

First Posted: 08/16/10 10:44 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:20 PM ET

The 33-year-old Denver Judicial Building saw it's last day Sunday after a Maryland-based company, Construction Demolition Inc., used 40 pounds of explosives to topple the complex. Onlookers woke early Sunday morning to catch a glimpse of the spectacle, which--crews admit--was even louder than expected.

Construction has already begun on the building's $258 million replacement, which is expected to be completed by the Spring of 2013.

it's like a metaphor for what's happening with our judicial system and our constitutional rights in this country. In a blink of an eye... they crumble and or disappear in a cloud of smoke and dust.

Al Qaeda has just posted a message on their website claiming responsibility for the blast, and warning that American judicial buildings everywhere will be destroyed.
