Eli Manning INJURY: Blood Spews From Injured QB (VIDEO)

Eli Manning suffered a gruesome injury during a preseason game against the Jets Monday night, with blood spewing from his injured forehead.

The incident occurred after teammate Brandon Jacobs accidentally knocked Manning's helmet loose on a fourth-down play. The Giants quarterback was then struck by Jets linebacker Calvin Pace, whose hit took Manning's helmet all the way off, at which point the Giant collided with another Jets defender.

Blood gushed out from Manning, who was removed from the game, and he later received stitches on the three-inch wound. Scroll down for a photo and videos of the hit.

Ouch! I love Eli. I've followed him since his freshman year at Ole Miss. I was a senior then, and I ran into him on a few occasions. He was always a very nice guy. I'm a big fan of all the Mannings. Great people.

He shouldn't have been in the game at that point. They're taking a pretty big risk with such a valuable player in that late in a preseason game. Sanchez played the rest of the first half even after this happened. Not too smart.

Oh yeah, no one should be concerned about traumatic brain injuries and the posibilty of his wife and/or loved one wheeling him around in a wheelchair when he's 50.

More full impact games would be bad for the game. More injuries, shorter careers. And the owners are not planning on dropping the preseason games. No reason to stop collecting full price for one quarter of starter football.

Last week, my third baseman and catcher ran into each other going after a pop up, my catcher was spiked in the face with a gash from his left eye down his nose. He washed his face off and went back in for 7 more innings.
