I'm sorry, but it is a lousy idea. All you are doing is wasting trees to print stickers that some poor store clerk is going to have to peel off. And they will remove them, probably before you get out of the store.

How can they say don't target Wholefoods when they are one of the biggest offenders...

Whole Foods sells Avalon Organics, Nature’s Gate Organics, and Giovanni’s Organic.

I just got home from Whole Foods and they have a big Avalon Organics display close to the checkout, so you cant miss it, in fact they push Avalon very hard.

This the nonprofit group is pathetic at best. They say go out and sticker, but don't sticker the biggest retail seller.

LAME SELL OUTS!

Panic?

Ummmm....rethink that one ya enviro-geeks. And do it with more emphasis on being informed and less on having to rhyme.

Applying stickers is a legal form of vandalism and can get you in trouble.,,,, people get busted for it all of the time
10:32 PM on 08/16/2010
Good news, many people don't know anything about "organic" requirements.

Most Organic Farmers do what they do out of love and principle. They believe sincerely that their products are essential to their, their family, customers, and the planet's well-being. If this organization targets the unscrupulous people who are jumping on the "Organic" bandwagon, passing off inferior products to make a quick buck, then I commend the Organic Consumers Association for exposing every single one.

Great comment Valda. Organic farming is a way of life. It is not merely a matter of not using pesticides or synthetic fertilizers; it's a holistic system and philosophy that requires training, skill and commitment. Shame on any farmer or company that uses the term under false pretences. I also commend the Organic Consumers Association for raising awareness of the issue but we also need to be demanding greater attention to inspection and certification so that consumers can know what they're buying. To borrow from that old Haynes slogan: "If it doesn't say 'Certified' It's not Organic."

I meant Hanes, of course. We could use a similar campaign -- with an Organic Inspector saying "It isn't Organic till I say it's Organic."

I agree. Something else I do is, I NEVER buy from companies putting out both "Organic" and "Conventional" products. I use established companies who stake their reputation on the authenticity of what they produce. In other words, that's ALL they do. That's one good rule to go by. I know that there are smaller Organic farms who are finding it hard to pay the funds for the "Certification" or "Seal". Yet, it's a family business where that (Organic) is their trademark. This association should help alleviate some of that burden off them..
