Aboard Russian Billionaire Andrey Melnichencko's $300 Million Yacht (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/17/10 07:07 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:25 PM ET

The interior of Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichencko's 394-foot yacht has never before been viewed by the public -- until now. The Wall Street Journal gained unprecedented access to tour the ship, called the 'A,' which reportedly costs more than $300 million.

Designed by the legendary French designer, Phillipe Starck, the "A" features luxuries most of us can hardly dream up, like a glass-bottomed pool built atop a disco or a plush room with walls covered in stingray hides.

Among other absurdities, the ship has a $60,000 bannister, a master bedroom that opens only to a fingerprint and a secret room designated specifically for "nookie," which any owner of a ship like this surely has no shortage of.

Check out the Wall Street Journal's exclusive tour of Andrey Melnichencko's famous yacht below:

$300 million to build and $20 million a year to maintain a floating Playboy Mansion. I'm so impressed.

When you eat cake, he will be cruising the high seas with naked supermodels. I love success.

I don't know! somehow i expected a lot more for that amount of money.

With that much money you have no need for taste.

Seriously, the boat is hideous. Looks like a whitewashed version of an old Navy ship, very old. The interior would make for a nice office building.

Love the yacht....can't get past the animal skins however. I'm sure the ardent Capitalists here will say that they're okay with whatever animals he can afford to line his yacht with is a great thing, but man, I have to wonder why someone would want to go that route...baffling.

Another Russian billionaire recently launched the world’s largest private yacht, the Eclipse, at 557 feet, with price tag estimates up to $1.2 billion.

Perhaps we should consider if generations in the distant future will have sufficient natural resources still available for more basic or pressing needs. This might be another example of short-sighted excess at the expense of long-term planetary survival? "A" misuse? "Eclipse"-ing the future?

This is great, both Made in Germany by Blohm & Voss, the Eclipse and the A.

Very good for our economy, better than hiding the money in some offshore accounts. That's what all wealthy people should do.

Made by ThyssenKrupp. The boat was purchased by a Jew from a company that used Jews as slave labour. Oy.

This is "short-sighted excess at the expense of long-term planetary survival" - I very much agree with Observerofvirtue.

Yes, it shows perverse priorities that are a threat to our long term future.
