Anderson Cooper Offered $1 Million To Ditch Gray Hair (POLL)

First Posted: 08/19/2010 10:41 am Updated: 05/25/2011 5:25 pm

Anderson Cooper has reportedly been offered $1 million to get rid of his gray hair for the next five years, the Sun-Sentinel reports. The CNN anchor would have to use the Go Away Gray pill made by Rise-N-Shine for 60 days and Tweet and Facebook his thoughts to see the payday. Developer Cathy Beggan said, "We feel like Anderson Cooper is a really visible and well-respected figure and thought he would be a great spokesperson for the product and the company," adding, "And it doesn't hurt that he's a handsome gentleman." And if Cooper doesn't need the dough, Beggan suggests he could give it to charity.

So what exactly is Go Away Gray? From the product's website:

Go AWAY Gray is specially formulated to prevent and reverse unwanted gray hair. Based on recent scientific studies, low levels of the enzyme Catalase in your body can turn your hair gray. Hydrogen peroxide is naturally produced by the body and Catalase breaks it down. If you are not producing enough Catalase, the hydrogen peroxide cannot be broken down. This causes the hydrogen peroxide to bleach the hair from the inside out, making it gray. Go AWAY Gray contains the enzyme Catalase, along with other special nutrients to reverse and prevent gray hair and to also promote thicker, healthier hair! Take Go Away Gray today and watch your gray go AWAY!

CBS Chicago anchorman Vince Gerasole reported on the pills in April. While the folks he interviewed reported results, when Gerasole tried Go Away Gray he noticed no change in his hair color.

So, what do you think?

Quick Poll

Should Anderson take the million dollars and ditch his gray hair?

YES! Why not?

NO! Let the silver fox be.

That is chump change for him to have to go through all the publicity hassle with all that tweeting and Facebook and could ruin his image as a newscaster.

Taking a pill to get rid of gray hair is not a good thing, no matter how much money is involved. What are the reactions to this drug? Will his hair fall out instead of turning brown, blond, or black?

I wish someone would offer ME a million to ditch my gray! (I have to admit I would be doing some heavy research on the ingredients of that pill, though.)

A million dollars? That's an insult to the son of a Vanderbilt. The Silver Fox looks just fine. Now on the other hand, I bet the "Grey Gopher" Glenn Beck would take it.

You can do it much cheaper than that. Find someone with a woodstove and when they clean their chimney get some of that carbon black and comb it through your hair.

Offering AC $1M to lose the grey is like offering Paris $1euro to change the color of the Eiffel Tower. Leave the hot, talented news anchor alone! Long live the silver fox!

Grey hair looks great. You need to grow a grey 'stache too.

They want him to take some pills (chemicals) in order to change his hair color. Forget about it! Much too dangerous. He could end up ruining his health.

Except for the fact that grey hair is caused by reduction in melanin in the hair follicle that grows the hair. I really hate the ridiculous pseudo-scientific babble that these companies come up with to promote their products.

And Anderson Cooper is way hot just the way he is, WOOF!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_hair_color

change in hair color occurs when melanin ceases to be produced in the hair root and new hairs grow in without pigment. The stem cells at the base of hair follicles produce melanocytes, the cells that produce and store pigment in hair and skin. The death of the melanocyte stem cells causes the onset of graying.

Unless I'm vastly overestimating his salary, 1m is hardly incentive for him to do anything.
