With the risk of layoffs, stiff competition and high expectations for productivity, today's workplace can be very stressful.
Tony Schwartz's book, "The Way We're Working Isn't Working," is about how to manage your energy in the workplace. On CBS's Early Show Schwartz described what to do when you feel like you're reaching that breaking point at your job.
"It's actually something that's happening physically," he said. "At a certain moment when you're feeling a sense of threat you go into what we call fight or flight, and your cognition, your ability to think turns off, and you react as if the world is out to get you."
When you feel signals from your body that you might be reaching a breaking point, there are a few simple, physical things you can do right away to stay calm in the moment, like breathing, lowering your voice and even smiling.
