The same thing happened to Sensible Washington (the group trying to get initiative I-1068 "Decriminalize Marijuana for Adults") on the ballet for this fall. We will be running into this issue again next year as we are planning to resubmit the initiative for the 2011 ballot.

To be fair, this is probably the result of phishing rather than an all-out iTunes attack, but Apple's response to the situation is a little less than stellar, for a company that pretends to pride itself on customer service.

Wasn't iTunes hacked, as reported by tech media, during early July of 2010 as well?

http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/07/04/googles-youtube-temporarily-hacked/

Or in 2005? (albeit for a different intent) http://news.cnet.com/iTunes-hack-disabled-by-Apple/2100-1027_3-5628616.html

And this gem:
http://upcoming.current.com/search?q=Apple+confirm+iTunes+scam%2C+refunds+are+your+bank%E2%80%99s+responsibility

Don't call Apple. Call your bank for a refund. (that should be real joy...)

In fact, I just disabled my account. Apple needs to be responsible - the history of iTunes being hacked is a little much considering the costs involved in owning their products. I vote with my wallet.

Security by obscurity. Fruit flies live by it.
