In looking at the address I see a zipcode. I'm not so sure that they used zipcodes back them. They did use postal codes. Back then the addtess would have been "New York 11, N.Y."

I wondered about that also, so I looked it up. Zip codes were initiated in 1963, and the check is dated 1965, so it is probably correct.
