Princess Letizia, pregnant Princess Mary, Princess Maxima--who we haven't seen for some time now--and a handful of other stylistas attended the couple's pre-wedding reception on Tuesday. Take a look at who wore what and tell us who was best-dressed.

Why does huff post even have a section on royals? The King of Greece was deposed a long time ago. What a joke and a slap in the face to Greek citizens and the birthplace of democracy to hold this "royal wedding" in Greece. As for the other "royals" and monarchies it is the most anti-democratic, anti-egalitarian institution. Whose paying for them to attend and who is footing the bill for their clothing and staff and etc? These royals go on trips at taxpayer expense, and many of these so called crown royals marry foreign social climbers and expect their citizens to foot the bill and bow/curtsy to them? If we wanted a show we can go to broadway and watch My Fair Lady. Also do any of them believe in zero population, they all seem just as bad as the Octomom, tons of kids and living off the public purse.

I agree with you, but it's really up to the people in those monarchies.

I think it's all too ridiculous! Greece threw out the monarchy I don't know how many years ago. It sounds stupid to call them King, Queen, Prince and Princess "of Greece!"
I'm glad that Crown Prince Felipe of Spain married a Spanish woman, unlike Willem Alexander of Holland and that dull Dane, Frederik.

Anyway, like I said, it's up to the people.

I am old enough to remember when King Constantine of Greece was debonair and dashing. What a let down. He needs to get rid of that gut.

Some of the titles may have confused people. The Greek and Bulgarian royals are in reality pretenders to the throne, the monarchies having collapsed or gotten overthrown years ago.

Letizia and Felipe look as gorgeous, and as classy as ever! What a lovely couple!

Nice to see the leisure classes living it up on the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, back in the world of reality...

For your information, it's CROWN prince Willem Alexander of the Netherlands. I wouldn't mind, but you seem to give all the other royalty their rightful titles.

He's just Prince Willem-Alexander, not Crown Prince W-A. You don't call Prince Charles: Crown Prince Charles , you call him Charles, Prince of Wales. Same for Felipe, Prince of Asturias, and Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange.

The only princes who use Crown Prince are Frederik of Denmark, Naruhito of Japan, and Haakon of Norway

I was puzzled to discover that the Dutch national anthem starts with "Willem of Orange, I'm of German blood!"

In the late 60's the Greek Junta (oppposition sociast power) overthrew the monarchy and government, which led to the beginning of the economic downfall of Greece. Shortly thereafter, then Prince Constantine led the Greek Army in trying to stage a Junta coupe. But,he was inexperienced, young and no match for the Junta bullies. Kudos, ex- Prince Constantine for the effort. That said, the Greek Monarchy is long gone, and their titles should be shed. I personally resent the media and the family continuing to refer to themselves as Greek Monarchs.

"...their titles should be shed."

ITA! They're ridiculous.

Actual Greek man here.

Young people here are actually pretty fascinated by royalty. I hate it when people (you Americans) say ' the Greek royal family'... because pretty all of them descend from south Denmark.

Still, as I have found out, anyone who is old enough to remember the monarchy does not remember them too fondly. The King repeatedly tried to keep the junta in rule and was something of an oligarch like the Shah of Iran.

I'll put it simply to you why Greece, at least, should not have a monarchy:

-Invents democracy
-Puts monarchs who were lucky and born into wealth above the people and gives them special rights!

That, people is stupid. The monarchs are there simply because in ancient (post-Hellenistic) and medieval times, people blindingly believed whatever religious leaders told them. And that was that Kings were appointed there by God himself, so they were always above everyone else.

I can't believe Arabs and a few others still buy into this. It's a disgrace to the world to have a monarchy (or the many bureaucrats of the U.S.) in my view.

And yet the people who actually live in monarchies will probably beg to differ. You see monarchies as useless and ancient, but for a lot of European monarchies, the people see them as a symbol of stability and unity. How many Presidents and Prime Ministers have come and gone during Queen Elizabeth II's reign? How many charities do you think the British royals are patrons of and how much money they raise for these charities?

It's not a disgrace to have a monarchy if they actually serve the people and are beneficial to the country. They are useful ambassadors to other nations. The Spanish royals always send the heir to Presidential Inaugurations in South America, as well as State visits to other countries to establish relations and trade. Would the President of a country really be able to do this more than 10 times a year? Clearly, it would be impossible to coordinate a nation's President's agenda when he/she has so much to do. But with countries who have monarchies, the royals can represent the nation while the Prime Minister/President continues to work on the most pressing issues of the country.

Monarchies have become an institution on their own, they are now the ones serving the people. The monarchies are there because the people WANT them to be there. If they don't, it's within their power to call a referendum and decide whether they want to maintain their monarchies or not.

It's interesting that all cultures seem to need to cultivate an "elite" class that the other classes look up to and emulate and gossip about. In some societies it's nobility, in some it's celebrity, but each culture has it. Wonder why.

Rosario Nadal's dress is nice, but this wasn't her dress for the pre-wedding cocktail event. This was when she arrived in Spetses, I believe, and she looks haggard.

Maxima of the Netherlands is always charismatic and vibrant in bold colors. Mary's dress could've been better, she always goes for dull colors that washes her out, and the chest part of her dress is weird. Victoria of Sweden looks lovely, still on the honeymoon phase.

Hi. You are so right. It's Letizia and Felipe again for the win, even among all the beautiful people. They DO look as if they have been relaxing out of the spotlight as we have discussed. They both look wonderful, and I see he has a beard and they are holding hands. Good for them. Lovely couple. I love that top on her.

Why does the monarchy even exist in the 21st century? Frankly, I have more admiration for a person who starts with nothing and literally changes their life with hard work.
