Glenn Beck Rally Will Be Like Moon Landing, Wright Brothers, & Rosa Parks All Rolled Into One Massive Orgasm Of American History

Glenn Beck Rally

Outside of joining the locals in a deep and contented chuckle over the whole "STAY OFF THE GREEN LINE" matter, I'm not sure what there is to say about this coming weekend's "Glenn Beck Sings A Song Of Myself" rally on the steps of the Lincoln memorial. Weirdly, people only seemed to get terribly concerned about how it will be held on the same day of Martin Luther King's historic March On Washington this week, despite the fact that this has been known from the get-go. I'd have never imagined this was necessary, but on the off-chance that you're confused about whether Glenn Beck and Martin Luther King are the same person, here's some exhaustive research from Media Matters demonstrating this is not the case.

As Dave Weigel points out, it might be more worthwhile to be upset about "the b.s. way [Beck]'s selling" the rally. Not that this breaks with any of Beck's established traditions! But, as Politico's Ken Vogel reported, what's noteworthy is that Beck's fameball act is starting to irk some of his nominal allies, spurring some skepticism of his motives:

The rally and Beck's increasing political forays have made him an object of suspicion among some conservatives, even as they acknowledge his influence and potential importance as a spokesman.

"The conservative movement is still split on Glenn and whether he's doing it for himself or doing it for the movement," said Erick Erickson, founder of the influential conservative blog Red State. Erickson said he's offered his assistance to Team Beck in his political exploits, which in the past year have included a high-profile battle with the White House, the creation of a network of perhaps hundreds of political groups, and the keynote speech at a major conservative political conference. "Until that question is resolved, I think you're going to see some groups hesitant to go all in with him."

Some tea party leaders have rejected Beck's requests to help with the rally because of concern over his inflammatory rhetoric and fear that he was seeking to leverage their organizational know-how and grass-roots credibility for his own financial benefit, providing little in return.

"They wouldn't even give us a booth," said a leader of a tea party-related group that rejected Beck's entreaties. "I resented their presumption that a relatively small organization like ours would use our connections to promote an event where Glenn Beck and FreedomWorks are featured, and we get no recognition at all. No thanks."

Well, Beck's insanely melodramatic video promotion of the rally, replete with Goldline scamflackery and nutlog comparisons to Rosa Parks, the Wright Brothers, and the moon landing, isn't going to do anything to damp down that nascent skepticism:

Did all those people know he is a Mormon? So when he is using God in his speech it is meaning someting different than what his Christian counterparts believe.

This makes me laugh.

President Obama wasn't even the Prez yet, when he spoke in Germany.

No one paid anyone to be there, and yet over 200,000 people showed up to hear him speak.

It wasn't even his countrymen and women who came from miles to see and hear him.

I won't even talk about the Inauguration.

That was is especailly st00pid.

And delusional.

What makes these baggers think anyone who voted for President Obama, won't be doing so, again??

It's like me saying the baggers have regret for voting for the old guy and the refudiated quitter.

It makes zero sense.

I know, I shouldn't be surprised at their ignorance and lack of critical thinking.

So now we move out of tens of thousands attendees into the hundreds of thousands !
Great Job Glenn !!! Your rally will be a a defining and proud moment in American History..
The good Lord knows, we needed one ...

Officials do not make crowd estimates because they are unreliable and can be controversial, but event organizers put the number of attendees at 500,000; NBC News said it was closer to 300,000, but by any measure it was a large turnout. The crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument.

Lucky if there were 80,000.

Your fox math, makes me giggle.

Glen Beck, Sarah Palin and others should be specific when they say they want to “restore America”. Restoring it to what, to slavery, blacks not been able to vote, blacks sitting in the back of the bus…restoring it back to what?
The ‘right” hates when people say people like Beck are racists but I do remember Beck and company wanting to “restore” America when George W. Bush and Cheney took America to it lowest point ever. I don’t understand what horrible thing is being done to America that needs “restoring”
All this talk about “taking back America” “restoring America” is code for taking America back
from a black President.
Beck is playing on the fear of many older white people, look at the footage of the rally, 95% old white people all scared to the death of a black man in the white house.
MLK’s niece should be ashamed she allowed herself to be used to dishonor her family’s legacy.
The media should stop covering Beck, Palin and all this foolishness.

What a sad day. It is scary to think that because of Beck and Palin we have so many people that have given themselves a pass on being racist. They now have a "cause" and can pretend that it isn't racism, it is the economy/jobs what ever the Fox talking point of the day is.

In their mind it will always be 'taking back America' or 'restoring America's values'. Because in their mind, if it isn't white Christian is just isn't America. It's something else gone wrong that needs to be fixed. These people remind me of Munich in the late 20s and early 30s. And they're just getting started.

I heard reports of 80,000 people. There are 350 million in the US?

Seems like a lot to do about nothing.

The only people that don't get it are the people on this board preaching hate! The people on this board are the sheeple.

I've been hoping, observing and waiting to see if the Left had any honor to simply put their hate of conservatives, Christians and people that don't hold their flawed values. But true to their values, it is now clearly apparent the majority of the lot are empty, hate filled souls.

The people on this board, are tired of flawed policy, greed, theft, corruption and the flawed ideology of whatever *CULT* you'd like to call yourself as a follower of some religious nutbag.

Hate? I'm preaching sanity, I"m preaching pull our troops out of Afghanistan, I'm preaching let the Bush Tax Cuts of 2001 and 2003 expire. I'm preaching penalize any corporation that moves jobs offshore. I'm preaching legalizing Marijuana, pulling it away from the drug cartels and gangs that control it now, and create a new tax base for it. I'm preaching start taxing churches for the tax free business they really are.

You might want to get some facts and actually *debate* in here, instead of make some general statement without any merit. It just makes you look like the tool of Beck, Palin and their cronies.

I guess it's easier to just swallow whatever you are told, sorta like religion.

Glenn Beck did a great service in Washington for many Americans of all faiths, races, and classes of people... Sorry, I don't debate stoned, religious bigoted simpleton's that are clueless about the more complex issues in life you listed here. That you want to close your dilated eyes, hold your toke in and deeper a little bit longer than usual and wish... simply scamper away from truth and reality thinking that these issues will poof! magically just go away... is very immature, childlike. No doubt retarded from all that lovely smoke you champion for indeed. I also don't waste my time to debate Liberals like you because they tend to go around tiny circles, inside their tiny liberal bubbles that they call their reality and think they are intellectually superior than everyone else on the planet. Peace.

He doesn't give a $h!t about civil rights. But one thing is for sure, I'd like to see him get shipped off to the moon and left there for a science project. Oh and here Glen, for you a case of those little Spaghetti Raviolios for you to live on. Gotta go now, see ya!

Considering all the incredible "substance" and "intelligence" you've provided all of us with here, in this post of your's, Someone Said, "words simply fail me" in trying to express what a great and virtually unreplaceable loss your deparature from this board will represent to us.

Haha ! : )

When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin returned to the LEM after their moon walk, the first thing they noticed when they removed their helmets was how awful the moon dust smelled.

So maybe this will be like the moon walk in some odd kind of way.

Watching the live coverage just now, American flag in the background has been altered. There's a round yellow patch on it, possibly of the the "Don't Tread On Me" "logo" of the teaparty fruitcakes.

If a liberal were to purposely change the American flag, they'd find themselves tarred and feathered.
