Pete Rose Advises Roger Clemens To Come Clean

Pete Rose Roger Clemens

Pete Rose told ESPN he would advise Roger Clemens, who was indicted last week for allegedly lying to Congress about using steroids, to come clean.

"The only advice I'd give him would be something that he's probably 120 percent against," Rose said.

The all-time leader in hits also said he wishes he had come clean in 1989. "Because I would've saved myself a lot of grief, a lot of everything," he explained.

Rose also explained why he doesn't believe Clemens is telling the truth, saying he doesn't think Andy Pettitte is lying.

Rose received a lifetime ban from baseball for betting on the game. After denying it for 15 years, he finally admitted it in 2004.

The only advice Rose should give Clemens is what hair loss products not to use.
Give me a break!! You do the crime you do the time or be smart enough to not get caught.
This stuff is not tabloid nonsense like Tiger wood scandal.

Pete Rose is banned from the Hall of Fame because he bet on baseball. He should go in, but after he's gone, with an asterik by his name.

I agree, at least as to the post-mortem induction.

Pete doesn't deserve to see his plaque in the Hall of Fame, but his fans do.

It's curious how we extoll the virtues of redemption. Unfortunately redemption is only a word in our society. As criminal records follow and hamper people's lives long after they pay societies price, Pete Rose continues to pay the price after his admission and continued snub from the Bsseball Hall of Fame. Pete has paid his price to Baseball and Society. Most of Society has long since forgiven Pete. It's time Baseball should too. He was the grittiest and most talented contact hitter I ever saw play the game. Omitting him from the Hall of Fame degrades the Hall of Fame. It's not like he murdered his wife.

Pete has yet to humble himself and truly take responsibility for his actions. Here's an interesting article that recounts Pete's stubborn refusal to accept the outstretched hands of some of his friends.

As a fan of the Dodgers who grew up at the time when the Dodgers-Reds rivalry was red-hot, I hated the Reds. But I respected them too. I am saddened that Pete has not and likely will not redeem himself.

Rose doesn't have to be in a "Hall" to be the best. He was.

BTW, the man was a hitting machine. Pure and simply, the most consistent hitter I've watched.

Clemens already cooked his own goose by being arrogant enough to testify to Congress when he was under no legal requirement to do so. Now his lies have taken on a life of their own and they will overshadow anything he ever did between the lines.

I think that was just arrogance. He thought he was more popular and politically connected than he really was. The truth always wins out, no matter what it is.

Anybody else think Rocket's being played by his attorneys? How much is this going to cost him -- $15 million? Even if he gets an acquittal, it'll be an OJ type acquittal -- no one will believe he's innocent. His lawyers should have said from the beginning, "do not talk to Congress under oath, Rog. Or, if you insists on doing so, do a McGwire."

ROFLMAO. One criminal giving advice to another one. Reminds me of Dr. Gooden, going to look for a missing D. Strawberry when they were both having drug problems. Thank goodness Dr. and Strawberry are ok today.

Keep talking Pete, this is too funny.
