Tonight during the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, three acclaimed comedies are up for Emmys in spite of the minor detail of no longer being on the air: "Monk," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," and of course, "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien." Only time will tell if any of them win, but history tells us that some of the best and most respected television comedies in history heard their name called on Emmy night after the show had been canceled. Here's a look at some of the best comedies heralded by the Emmys but not network executives. Vote for your favorite!

"Arrested Development"

What kind of country would this be without household references to never-nudes, "The Final Countdown," and banana stands? It's common knowledge that FOX "blue themselves" by mispromoting and ultimately canceling "Arrested Development," arguably the densest and funniest sitcom of all time, after just two and a half seasons. But particularly damning is that by the time they canceled the show, it had already racked up an impressive pedigree of Emmy nominations and wins. The Emmys' recognition of its final season after had been canceled was no change, and again the show received multiple acting, writing, and producing nominations. As GOB might say, FOX made a huge mistake. (via Doobybrain)
