Bar Refaeli Tweets About 'Shaky And Hungry' Teen Models

Update: ONE Management contacted the Huffington Post, writing, "Ms. Refaeli does not have Twitter or Tumbler account. These statements are made by imposters."

Previously: Model and Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend Bar Refaeli has taken to Twitter to post her thoughts on body image. Although her account isn't "verified," we're reasonably sure it does indeed belong to the Israeli beauty since it's linked to from her official Tumblr. So what did Bar have to say? Some candid thoughts before Fashion Week...

From Monday:

I get so sad when I see 15 year old pale extremely skinny models at the agency looking all shaky and hungry... When will it end?!?!

From August 29:

Seriously... Plastic surgery is not helping your impact on young women or your looks!

I bet those models look pretty hot though. And if they are a little shaky that might be kind of a turn on. Like one of those shaky massage beds in the old cheap motels.

She's lucky she gets that amazing body by just eating and exercising, but many young girls, still growing-up cannot achieve a body like hers unless they starve themselves... So, I think it's a tricky question: she is promoting a kind of body image that many teenager girls cannot achieve because they cannot be 24/7 devoted to their bodies but to their studies, families etc unless they starve themselves...

Then maybe teenage girls shouldn't be modeling. Maybe their parents should step in and tell them it's not worth sacrificing their health and self esteem.

I am not talking about teengars modelling but about normal teenagers whose parents cannot teach them that going to university is more important than wearing a size 0.

Sadly, most parents don't realise this because they also admire size 0 girls (how many mothers out there buy gossip magazines and praise the useless but size-great women on TV?) and cannot teach their daughters what really matters in this life. I am sure most girls know who Nicole Richie is but cannot say a thing about Doris Lessing, Hilary Clinton or Margaret Atwood.

You have to look at the designers also. They prefer prepubecent girls (many of them dont even have drivers license) who look like undeveloped boys, with no breast or hips of any kind. I understand the need for thin and tall girls, the clothes look more fantasy like on the runways and in spreads, and thats what fashion is to me, a fantasy, and should not be taken seriously as a model to an every day woman. These girls are paid to be thin, tall and pretty. Its a job, just like any else. Now if they are battling anorexia and starvation, thats a whole different issue that needs to be addressed. In America, we dont have a problem because of the "skinny" people, obesity is RAMPANT, so obviously its not these thin models that seem to cause women to feel insecure and starve themselves.

It will end when the industry stops promoting and tolerating it. I was a model in the 80's yes I was skinny yes the other were skinny were we as skinny as some of the models are today? NO! They are emaciated! The sample sized has gone down so low that's the problem. Why isn't that corrected? It should be a 4 for girls over 5"8" not a 0! Bar is curvy compared to many models today and I bet her BMI is hardly 18. Personally I think the agencies should be sued because they know it is dangerous and they do nothing and they know some of the girls will become very sick and sometimes die. That is pure negligence. My daughter is not allowed to model why? Because I bet they would tell her to lose weight she is 5'7" and 108.

While I totally agree with you on how the size of models has dwindled, you should be aware that your daughter's BMI is 16.9. That is hardly 18. That is hardly 17. And that is dangerously low. I can understand that she might be genetically predisposed to be thin, but that is super-thin. She would fit right in with the current modeling world.

Her father is 6'3" and 170lbs at age 44 I was 115lbs at age 42 until I got pregnant with my current pregnancy. So yes it's genetics. I see girls that are thinner than her she is skinny but doesn't look emaciated at all she has curves. Trust me models are way thinner than her at 5'7" a model would be expected to be a 0 and 100lbs tops she is a 3/4 .

When will it end? When the industry that makes you filthy rich stops perpetuating it. You are part of the problem, you see; all these 15-year olds want to look just like you -- only skinnier.
