Boulder Number One, Fort Collins Number 14 In Daily Beast's List Of 'Brainiest' Cities

Boulder took the prize for being America's brainiest city in a study performed by Richard Florida for the Daily Beast.

The study was based on three factors: percent of adults over 25 with a Ph.D., master's or professional degree, computer scientists and mathematicians as a share of all employment, and scientists as a percentage of total employment.

Florida attributed Boulder's high score to the presence of CU, as well as national labs like the Center for Atmospheric Research.

Boulder was also recently named the best city in America for startups by Businessweek, and the happiest city in America by USA today.

Fort Collins was the only other Colorado city to crack the top 20, checking in at number 14.
