Dianita Barratt: Escaped Tiger Confronts Toddler At Florida's 'Jungle Island' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 8/30/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Diana Barratt was in for a shocking surprise when she turned a corner to find her two-year-old daughter, Dianita, facing down a 500-pound Bengal tiger that had escaped its enclosure at the Florida exotic animal park Jungle Island on Saturday.

In this video, Jungle Island's Ashley Serrate tells MSNBC that it was a "freak...isolated incident." Apparently, the tiger was able to leap over the fence surrounding its enclosure after being stirred into an excited frenzy by a white-handed gibbon that had escaped its own pen as a result of both mechanical and human error.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, as Barratt was able to get her daughter to safety with the help of park employees who escorted them and other park visitors to a secure building.
