Heidi Klum covers City's September issue channeling Marlene Dietrich, the famous German-American actress and singer. Klum had no trouble taking on the legend's look...except for one thing! She told Page Six, "We had to completely hide my eyebrows and remake them....I give credit to my hair and makeup team on this one."

Check out behind-the-scenes video from the shoot and Heidi's thoughts on always being German:

This Klum girl looks like a Debbie Harry knock off. This is who they should have hired:

she doesn't have the cheekbones or the deep set eyes. Heidi looks like Heidi.

Stunning to say the least. However, she appears more to channel Faye Dunaway in "Chinatown" (to me anyway....).

Agreed. I see the Faye but not at all the Marlene.

Heidi cannot take a bad pix....nothing like the original & happy for that fact!

At least she tried!
But sorry there will always be juste one Marlene Dietrich,0ne Barbra Streisand, one Marilyn Monroe, one Rita Hayworth, one Elizabeth Taylor...and the list goes on
It makes me think how "ugly" the so called stars of today are compared to the magnficient and glamorous actresses of the golden era

They aren't so much ugly as average. Very pretty, pleasant looking young women out there who do not have one inkling of the character or uniqueness of the old time stars.

A good example is Joel Gray's daughter, Jennifer. SO interesting. Such a striking young woman. Could have been a great beauty, but she opted for surgery and a vanilla face. Now I would not recognize her if she were sitting next to me. So sad.

The old stars or their makeup artists were creative with what nature had given them. Major advances in plastic surgery and photoshopping technology have destroyed individuality. Worst of all, many today want Angelina Jolie's lips (she was born with them), but not everyone has the maxillofacial bone structure to support them so they look fake, stuck-on, or swollen. Sad.

She looks like Gywneth Paltrow.

Nice try, but Marlene Dietrich was one-of-a-kind. Just as useless as trying to create another Lauren Becall or Ingrid Bergman.....don't even bother

I don't think they were trying to "create" another Dietrich. It's just a tribute to her...

OK you called me on semantics...you know what I meant. Just as you could tell my comment was a tribute to the 3 mentioned. But thanks, I will make an effort to be more exacting.

At best, Heidi looked like an angry Marlene. I hope the bed is made as Marlene has famously said, "A man would prefer to come home to an unmade bed and a happy woman than to a neatly made bed and an angry woman."

Marlene and Mae West were actually their own 'inventions
AND the screen first FEMALE IMPERSONATORS having lifted a lot of make up and mannerisms from early century drag queens.
Like Victor/Victoria they were women, imitating men's impressions of women.
