Eater.com:

During the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards, Top Chef won the Emmy in the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program category, beating out Project Runway, Dancing with the Stars, and American Idol, and The Amazing Race, which had won the award seven years in a row. It was Top Chef's fourth consecutive nomination.

On stage included Dan Cutforth from the production company Magical Elves, Tom Colicchio, Padma Lakshmi, and an absolutely beaming Gail Simmons.

If they win one for 2010, it'll be for the most obvious manipulation of the final outcome. Show's worst season ever.

Agreed. I stopped watching early on this season, it has become just another drama filled reality show with cooking and food as secondary ingredients. I'll give next season a try, hoping this one is an aberration, as Project Runway's season in LA was.

The Just Desserts show should be fun, so long as it doesn't become another "let's make huge cakes that are more construction material than pastry" type show.

That's my SHOW, right there!

Scared me out of the kitchen, for real, and out of "fine dining." I'm not worthy, LOL.

I did learn why 'fine dining' is so expensive, though. All those ingredients and creativity.

"Foodies" are chef groupies. ha ha ha.

Top Chef is one of the best shows on television, reality or nonreality. I wouldn't miss it!

This was right about the point where I started nodding off.

Reality shows should receive there awards off air at the nobody cares awards given earlier and the winners announced.

My god, I love TOP CHEF but the judges, producers, "writers" and other panelists are acting like they just won individual awards for acting, writing or something.... its a "reality" show, jeeezz!! (lady almost broke her dang foot running up to the stage) and i guess Padma wanted to thank her agent and fans... oh well!

The notion that there's actually an Emmy for a "reality" show tells me I've been out of the loop for too long...

...and made the correct decision.

At least Top Chef and Project Runway are fresh and require the contestants to have some skills. Amazing Race was interesting when it started, but it's getting a little long in the tooth to still be nominated.

Well, it's about time some other reality show besides "Amazing Race" won! Although there's very few of substance, I count, "Top Chef", "Project Runway", "American Idol", and the crab/tuna/sword fishing shows as the best. I'm glad it was "TC", and they looked so surprised and happy! Emmy committee, about time you gave another show recognition; And to me, you got it right this time!

Top Chef and Project Runway both showcase professional skills, the other shows are more about personalities and juvenile antics.

Congrats to Top Chef!

I generally hate reality shows, well most of them. I actually like Top Chef, Pit Boss and Pawn Stars.

I like Top Chef and Project Runway. I hear the Great Race is good too. However, American Idol has had it's day and I find it boring.

I would have nominated So You Think You Can Dance. I love watching those talented young people dance. As far as I'm concerned, it is much better than American Idol and Dancing with the Stars which I find unbearably boring. So You Think You Can Dance made a programming change this year, and the dancers were absolutely terrific.

The Amazing Race is the best of the lot. I've always thought Project Runway could be improved by showing us how those clothes get made, but instead they gave us more of the inane background chatter. The show was better without the supersizing.
