STUDIO CITY -- (KTLA) Residents are being evacuated and part of the 101 Freeway was shut down after a suspicious device was found inside a charred vehicle where a body was discovered early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the car fire around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 4600 block of North Radford Avenue near Hortense Street.

When they arrived, a dark-colored 1989 Toyota Camry parked under the 101 Freeway overpass, was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and discovered human remains inside the back of the car, possibly the trunk. Investigators say the car was so charred that the body may have been in the back seat.

They were not immediately able to tell the gender or age of the victim.
