Sir Richard Branson and singer Imogen Heap have joined forces to host an online benefit to help the millions of Pakistanis affected by the devastating floods.

The benefit raised awareness about the humanitarian crisis caused by the flooding -- with experts from several charitable organizations participating in a discussion about the disaster. In addition to a performance by Imogen Heap, the webcast also featured special guests Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Kate Havnevik, KT Tunstall, Josh Groban, Kaki King and Zoe Keating, each lending their musical talent to the fundraiser.

According to the event's website, viewers are encouraged to make an online donation to help flood victims. The donations will go to a fund set up by Virgin Unite, the foundation arm of Branson's company, to benefit three nonprofit organizations working in Pakistan: Oxfam, UNICEF and Architecture for Humanity. Virgin Unite also offers a list of other ways to contribute to relief efforts, including Canadian and American organizations providing supplies to Pakistani families.

about DR Slutniks very real depiction of needs : suggestion : composting toilets [ BIOLET.COM ENVIROLET.COM ] easy to say but very necessary for preventing contamination and after the emergency for compost for soil maintainance

vitamin C [ DR Klenner and vitamin C foundation } as an antipathogenic ; clay filters [ even coffee filters ] for surface water and then add ascorbic acid powder

use herbal formulas or organic essential oils more -[ in conjunction with naturopath or master herbalist degree e.g. cedar leaf oil kills cholera bug ] - more to decrease need for costly antibiotics speak with AYUSH ESPECIALLY MAHARISHI AYUR VEDA PHYSICIANS

perhaps it would be usefull for young people [ backpackers ] to go to Pakistan especially with skills like Permaculture and sandbag wall house construction etc sounds like stilts pardon me pillars are needed for platform tents to live on

boats boats boats

fumigate seriously the air with real frankincence resin and myrhh crystals etc

even in emergencies green is better

It i sad to see the comments and people's sentiments against the plight of the victims of this 'natural' disaster.

Considering what the commentators are blaming these victims of, let's hope people of the world see us in a better light and we never see anything here of that magnitude.

Our perspective sure has drastically changed in the last decade

Hey Branson, just pay your taxes. Dork.

Let him call his billionaire friends that spend their spare time sailing in the Caribbean.

They profit disproportionately from the economy, they can help disproportionately.

Its a tax write off after all.
However, its not "giving" when you have to get a tax break.

He should spend some of his money anonymously.

I'm glad to see that there is starting to be more international concern for the victims of the Pakistan floods. From what I have seen in some of the comment sections there has been a lot of anti-Pakistan sentiment. Politics aside, this is a humanitarian crisis.

Richard Branson has more money by himself than Pakistan's yearly budget. I don't want to hear from him about it.

Oh give it a rest lady - at least the guy is doing something positive instead of just sitting around spending his hard earned money. Send his foundation a dollar - you might feel better about yourself.

Do you feel the same way about charity concerts and fundraisers organised by other wealthy celebrities, such as Bono or Geldorf or Madonna? Or is it only Branson you don't want to hear from?
Or is it just that you think the people in Pakistan don't deserve the same kind of help as other victims of such disasters?

Sir Richard, "give away your billions until you have as much as I do in your bank account", then give me a ring and I'll see what I can donate. Until that time, quit asking for other peoples money.
