Doesn’t seem like the right Organization to be reporting this; however it does make sense. Security has been on a different level since 9/11 and our economy has collapsed limiting their ability to come here and find work. Now for those on the left that are using this as a talking point: People entering is only part of the problem.. There are between 13-20 million illegals already here and more coming in  Read More...

This was just the Gooper master plan: conservative figured if they steal so much money from America that they crash the US economy, people will no longer want to migrate here.

After all, how many people want to migrate TO a failed state?

1. Financial crisis was & still is worldwide, not just "America"

Remember news about Greece, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Ireland, England, etc.

2. Plutocrats pull the strings of both parties

3. If you like to point fingers as if to bless the Democrats as being angels, I will remind you of:

a) How many of the thieves from the September 2008 Financial Crisis been put into jail?
How many have been indicted?

How long has
+ Eric Holder been in charge of the Department of Justice for Democrats? And...
+ Mary L. Schapiro been in charge of the S.E.C.?

b) FDR used every tool in the toolbox during his first 2 years in office to drop unemployment by
5 million jobs. He did this when the population of the USA was 122,775,046 in 1930

USA population today is 310,149,132 (http://www.census.gov/)
Unemployment first 2 years of the current administration has gone up, not down
8.5% to almost 10%, after adjusting for seasonality factors like census takers & summer

c) How many tax cheats, wealthy, corporate, etc. have been put into jail in 2010?

d) How many companies in the healthcare continuum lost something from healthcare reform?
Stock prices of all of those companies went up, evidencing better than status quo.
Think that was good?

e) Are 'banks too big to fail' smaller in 2010 versus 2008?

Someday the conservatards will figure out that "conservative" doesn't refer to a political party.

Until then, I'll have to continue ridiculing them every time they make that mistake.

Because Jan Brewer privatized the prisons in AZ and wants to fill them so her friends start profiting only problem is she cannot keep track of American murderers. Vlad while I can appreciate your concern is someone a dirtheap because they are illegal? There are people who champion for illegals and provide jobs and shelter. These are our citizens who blatantly break the law. If the bad economy keeps people away wouldn't not offering them jobs. We blame and blame when if there were no jobs offered, or if some of the Americans yelling about this stopped using illegal drugs the border crossings would diminish a great deal. Calling them names sometimes cause people who are citizens but have an accent or look brown to be classified and demonized. Very often they keep a low profile and just work. Not all are guilty of some of the things I have heard
In the NE part of this country we have a legal immigrant problem taking our high paying jobs that Americans could fill. The come on Visas and work for less money and very often are sponsored by companies who have contracts with large American corporations. The numbers are staggering and grow every day. I agree with immigration laws but when you see economies suffer in the southwest and prices rise there will be a flip side to this argument.
As soon as the brown man is out of the white house I promise you this issue will disappear...

A bit OT but worthy of mentioning and germane to the discussion, I think.
Last week I was flipping through the channels and came upon a program (nearing its end) on the History Channel, highlighting the history of harvesting; in one clip showing how figs, along with several other less traditional fruits, are grown and harvested in the U.S.; crops not conducive to mechanical harvesting, ones that actually need to be delicately hand picked.

He said that while he fully appreciates the backlash against the hiring of undocumented workers, the plain truth is that (in his experience) native born Americans are unwilling to do the work, which can be tedious, backbreaking, and boring, and now, with the downturn in the economy (fewer workers coming across the border), and the crackdown on migrant workers (illegal), he is having a hard time getting his crop harvested. Wish I could find the link; it was very interesting.

1. Only 6.7% of illegal aliens in USA work in AgricultureFarming

"There are about 1.2 million hired agricultural workers in our country today, and estimates show that between 600,000 and 800,000 are undocumented workers." [This was either 2007 or 2008]
http://www.dhs.gov/xnews/speeches/sp_1202390869926.shtm

"Mexico is the source of by far the largest number of unauthorized immigrants, accounting for 7 million of the 11.9 million unauthorized immigrants in 2008." Pg31 (http://pewhispanic.org/files/reports/107.pdf )

800,000/ 11,900,000 = 6.7%

Therefore, "harvesting, along with several other fruits,..." amount to a VERY TINY portion of illegal aliens in USA.

2. This male, or the MSM that broadcasted, or the producer/sponsor, that you are referring to is a contributor to legend and myth with agenda in the USA

This individual does not want you to know about:
+ H2A or
+ that HALF of USA AgricultureFarming are NOT illegal aliens.

We already have a TemporaryGuestWorkerProgram for Ag/Farm work

"And yet despite the fact that this program is uncapped, agricultural employers hired only about 75,000 H-2A workers in 2007." (http://www.dhs.gov/xnews/speeches/sp_1202390869926.shtm )

This is H-2A visa for doing work legally in USA (http://www.naalc.org/migrant/english/pdf/mgusah2a_en.pdf )

Do the H-2A requirement look unreasonable?

Employers refusing to use THIS Temporary Guest Worker program, do so because they do not want to abide by those worker protections.

From actual report:

"This sharp decline has contributed to an overall reduction of 8% in the number of unauthorized immigrants currently living in the U.S.—to 11.1 million in March 2009 from a peak of 12 million in March 2007, according to the estimates"
http://pewhispanic.org/files/reports/126.pdf

Bottom line, more than 11 million illegal aliens in USA still

A lot more work to do...

1. LESS than 7% of illegal aliens in the USA work in AgricultureFarming

2. 50% of USA AgricultureFarming workers are LEGALLY in the USA

4. Time to deport!

Anything that people want to stall about and maintain status quo about will say, "It's a complex problem." Americans have DEFINITE reason to be concerned that our USA immigration laws are NOT being enforced when the only illegal aliens presently being deported are SOME of the felons that can be found, all other illegal aliens are being released. THAT is not enforcement of USA immigration laws. Where does it say within USA immigration laws, illegal aliens may remain in the USA until they commit a felony? Where?

1. Illegal aliens are not immigrants

These are immigrants to the USA:

a) 1,130,818 immigrants entering USA in 2009 with Legal Permanent Residency status Pg3
http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/publications/lpr_fr_2009.pdf

b) "Each year the United States grants permanent residency to more immigrants than all the othernations of the world combined."
http://www.burtwolf.com/pdf/immigration.pdf

c) 2000 through 2009 was the highest number of immigrants entering USA as legal permanent residents since 15 years before the 1930 Great Depression.

[See for yourself, go to the following link, look at graph on page 1, remove the 1986 amnesty from the graph...

When you realize you were wrong about, "someone who doesn't view the phrase "illegal alien" as anything except a far right lun- atic talking point"

You backpedal to cover yourself.

Your brain and your view was not correct about the use of the term illegal alien.

I do not have to defend the Law Dictionary defintions of
illegal
alien
illegal immigrant

You do

> "You cite a civil law, because you don't understand the difference between criminal and civil laws."

As I said before, you make too many presumptions.
I know you are eager to backpedal to cover your ar- se, but I do not have to defend the Law Dictionary about

Illegal
alien
Illegal immigrant

You do

BTW, I cited where the use of term "alien" originated from in 1790 USA law. Again, reading comprehension grasshopper

Oh bad bad Wash Post.

The Pew report actually says immigration down since . . . .
well here:
..."The annual inflow of unauthorized immigrants to the United States was nearly two-thirds smaller in the March 2007 to March 2009 period than it had been from March 2000 to March 2005, according to new estimates by the Pew Hispanic Center.
. . .
Here is a link to the real report,
http://www.pewtrusts.org/our_work_report_detail.aspx?id=60596

LOWER in 2007-09 than 2000-2005
07:45 AM on 09/02/2010
Hmmm... What could have caused a bigger decline in the recent 2 year period versus the prior 5 year period? Perhaps a bad economy acting as a deterrent to illegal immigrants?

1) It does not mean Drug Cartel illegal alien crossings are down 67%
2) It does not mean enforcement caused a decrease either
3) It does not mean bad guys stopped coming

For example from Pew,

"These new Pew Hispanic Center estimates rely on data mainly from the Census Bureau's Current Population Survey and decennial census. The unauthorized immigrant population is estimated using the widely accepted residual method, in which a demographic estimate of the legal foreign-born population is subtracted from the total foreign-born population."
http://pewhispanic.org/reports/report.php?ReportID=126

1) "estimate" of legal foreign-born population, not actual
2) The census taker is not ICE, they do not check your immigration status
3) A survey is not a count
4) Total foreign born population count, does not know how many are fraudulently documented, and a census taker cannot ask if they have papers or not.

"The Pew Hispanic Center's analysis also finds that the most marked decline in the population of unauthorized immigrants has been among those who come from Latin American countries other than Mexico." (Ibid)

OTM was only 40% of illegal aliens before anyway.

"The majority of undocumented immigrants (59%) are from Mexico, numbering 7 million."

(Cont'd)

From Pew

"The recent decrease in the unauthorized population has been especially notable along the nation's Southeast coast and in its Mountain West, according to the new estimates. The number of unauthorized immigrants in Florida, Nevada and Virginia shrank from 2008 to 2009."
http://pewhispanic.org/reports/report.php?ReportID=126

Nevada and Florida were 2 of the biggest housing booms in the USA during the last decade.
I am not surprised a methodolgy estimate would conclude that.
The methodology is more likely closely tied to a drop in housing start employment though, and the realization or ongoing presumption of how many in the home building segment were illegal aliens working in that sector before.

These estimates are based on economic assumptions.

Bottom line, more than 11 million illegal aliens in USA still...LOOK HERE

"This sharp decline has contributed to an overall reduction of 8% in the number of unauthorized immigrants currently living in the U.S.—to 11.1 million in March 2009 from a peak of 12 million in March 2007, according to the estimates"

1) Ross Perot saw this coming and warned about it, but he did not win the election

2) I don't know about you, but Americans were never given a choice at the retail store

If HONEST country of origin labelling was not being stopped by the Fortune 500, small business in the USA could have competed, and Americans could have made an honest selection based on whether people in the USA wanted

a) "cheap foreign goods"

or

b) American goods

3) Lastly, you should remember something else.

Products purchased in the USA, after the product was offshored for cheap labor, did not reflect that price at the USA retail store. Americans paid the same price, we just lost our jobs.

Fortune 500 did not cut the price on those products in the USA, after making the product abroad for 1/20 the wages. Americans got the shaft twice.

Fortune 500 can make the product in the USA for the same price, but upper managment, CEO, and the board must take pay cuts from the raises they took on the backs of Americans losing their jobs to offshoring, and today outsourcing.
