Sarah Palin And Glenn Beck To Meet In Alaska For Secretive 9/11 Event

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 9/2/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Sarah Palin Glenn Beck 911 Alaska
Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are set to meet in Anchorage, Alaska for a 9/11 appearance.

Lost amid a rather scathing Vanity Fairprofile lies a tidbit that is sure to raise some eyebrows -- Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin will appear together at a largely unpublicized 9/11 event in Anchorage Alaska.

Here's the relevant passage from Vanity Fair's Michael Joseph Gross:

Moore, a green-eyed blonde who, like Palin, was once an Alaska beauty queen, albeit a few stripes more self-aware, drives her Subaru through downtown Anchorage, steering with one hand, holding a cigarette and her smartphone in the other. When Devon calls to tell her that Glenn Beck has booked the Dena'ina Center, the largest venue in Anchorage, for a speech on September 11, 2010, she sits bolt upright and yells. Immediately, they start trying to figure out what the news might mean. "Listen, listen, listen: Why in the world do you imagine Glenn Beck would come to Anchorage on 9/11? You think he might have a special guest? With a special announcement? Oh," she says, her whole face falling as the implications of a Palin campaign kickoff hit her, "Jesus Christ."

Glenn Beck addressed his trip to the Frontier State on his radio show this week, calling it a "vacation" but keeping the nature of the event vague.

"I'm gonna give a speech up there and Sarah's gonna give a speech, but that's it," Beck said.

The highly significant time, place, guest list, and venue -- the Dena'ina Center is indeed lavish and large -- have led some, such as film-critic and sometimes political commentator Roger Ebert to speculate that the event has been planned in order to announce a Palin, or perhaps Beck-Palin or Palin-Beck 2012 presidential run.

"The symbolic date of 9/11 invests this event with the inescapable possibility that he and Palin plan to announce their Presidential candidacy for 2012," Ebert wrote Thursday.

Others such as AllahPundit at conservative blog HotAir have scoffed at this idea, however, saying that neither would be foolish enough to "co-opt 9/11 for something as self-aggrandizing as a campaign launch."

It's also worth mentioning that, according to a recent poll, most Alaskans, including Republicans, don't want Sarah Palin to run for president. So, if Sarah Palin does indeed have plans to run in 2012 -- and recent polls would also suggest that many people don't necessarily think that's a good idea at this point -- perhaps an announcement on this date in the heart of Alaska wouldn't be ideal.

Beck has also repeatedly made clear that he has no presidential aspirations, telling Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday this week that he would rather be on vacation than running for the top office.

Watch Glenn Beck talk about his 9/11 Alaska appearance on his radio program:

In light of this new association, PLEASE, I'm begging you, please run in 2012. It would be the greatest gift imaginable for the Democratic Party.

Seriously though - to all of the folks who commented on this and to Nick Wing who wrote this article - don't you feel silly? There was nothing secretive at all about this event, no conspiracy, no announcement of a Palin-Beck ticket. Can you believe that this post has almost 1500 comments for a non-story? http://www.theblaze.com/stories/palin-beck-recall-911-attacks-at-alaska-event/
It just boggles the mind that you consider this "news."

At the Wasilla 9/11 rally today presiding minister Stan Roach, pastor of the Independent Baptist Church of Anchorage, told a reporter he was worried Islam was taking over the world.

"We have cowards in the White House," he said. "We're afraid to say anymore that we're a Christian nation. Islam has stated they want to rule the world, and they are taking over."

Has anyone asked Sarah Palin or Joe Miller if this is "thetical" with our American ideals?

From Sarah Palin's Press Office, er, I mean Facebook page:
--------
"Glenn’s coming to the Last Frontier! I hope my fellow Alaskans (and anyone visiting from Outside) will join me this Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Anchorage’s Dena’ina Center at 8:00 p.m. Glenn Beck will be there – you won’t want to miss it. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.

We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will “never forget.” Hope to see you there!
---------

Palin is definitely determined to make her mark on history, in this case, she is perhaps the first person to take a solemn day, one that the 9/11 families all agree should be for sombre reflection and not for rallies or political or commercial purposes, and match it up with "you won’t want to miss it. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com." Great! Get your party on.

Yep. It's just a casual speech. $73.25 to $225 per person. 4500 tickets. Assuming that only 10% of those tickets are at the $225 rate, and the remaining 90% are at $73.35, that is nearly $400,000. The assumptions are probably at the low end, but this casual speech will net Beck and Palin at least $400,000. That doesn't fit my definition of casual, not to mention anyone's definition of 9/11 being a sombre time for reflection and remembrance.

Hey Glenn Beck fans,
I am strongly considering becoming a right-wing, propaganda-spewing megalomaniac.  I know that my intelligence and conscience may make this transition difficult for me, but I think that the right really deserves a better figurehead who doesn't have a history of drug or alcohol addiction.
My question to you all is this; what's the best way to get you all to part with your money: book sales or speaking fees?

Dear Career Changer,

Your objectives seem clear and worthy. However, having observed those who have been successful at the trade, I would suggest that you need something redemptive in your narrative; even if you disrespect the drawing power of drug or alcohol addition, I do think that you need something that would show you to be human and yet touched by God. Work on that, please. And lose the coherent sentences; that sort of logic frightens the sheep.

Best of luck in your new endeavors.

Dear LynnW,

That's some very good advice that hadn't occured to me.  Hmm, I'd go with the pregnancy outside of marriage and then preaching abstinence-only, but I think that idea's been played out.
Maybe I could have a questionable relationship with another man and then blame "the gays" for it.  Nah, I think that's usually an automatic, complete disqualifier for right-wing stardom.
Let's see, have an extramarital affair or three and then confess to having a sexual addiction?  Hmm, that could be fun, but I wouldn't put my wife through that.  Darn conscience.
Maybe I could break into a Democratic candidate's campaign headquarters.  Oh, I like that one.  That's a classic.  It worked for G.Gordon Liddy, and the right-wing loves that jerk.  But maybe it's been played out too, what with that kid who dressed up like a pimp at ACORN and who then tried to bug the phones of a congressman.
This will definitely take some thinking.

In Wasilla on 9/11 the Conservatives Patriots Group (CPG) will hold a noon rally titled "Standing Strong for America". The motto of the CPG is "Evil cannot be wished away, it cannot be loved away, it cannot be talked away, it must be destroyed!!!!" Their literature suggests that 'evil' is either Obama or Muslims depending on the topic being discussed. It appears that both Palin and Joe Miller may speak to this group. After the rally they will form a motorcade into Anchorage to attend the 'secretive' Beck/Palin 9/11 rally. This pre rally suggest that the Beck rally will rev up anger at the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack, Muslims and Islam. The constant mention of 'take back America' appears to be code for Muslims are taking over America. I'll be interested to see if they try to insinuate Obama is a Muslim and therefore part of the conspiracy against America. I'm wondering if this isn't going to be a lead up to an identification of Iran as the source of all terrorism and a call for war against Iran. The neo-cons and AIPAC are alive and still very eager for war. Remember their slogan "Anybody can go to Bagdad. Real men go to Tehran"

I think Beck's rally is all about setting code words in place for 2010 and 2012 . The rally hasn't been promoted as loudly as the 9/28 rally because they are going be talking to a select audience, just the real believers. I think they are going to use a lot of very blatant very ugly language against Muslims, Obama and Democrats equating them with a Marxist, terrorist, anti-christian take over that they can later use for code wording in campaigns in 2012. This rally is just a beginning; a setting in place of feelings and phrases. I doubt very much if Palin would be announcing a run for the president. The time, the place and the date don't seem right for that.

The most difficult part of this story to believe is that "neither would be foolish enough to co-opt 9/11 for something as self-aggrandizing as a campaign launch."

Are you kidding? Either one would shove Jesus off the cloud during the second coming if they something in it for them.

In Anchorage Glenn Beck will initiate the most sinister plot in the history of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy: the takeover of SCAT-POTUS (Supreme Commander All Tele-Prompters Of The United States). SCAT-POTUS is the central control unit for all of NOT-POTUS (Network Of Tele-Prompters Of The United States). NOT-POTUS is the direct source for all thoughts and words of T-POTUS (Tele-Promptee Of The United State, a/k/a Barack Hussein Obama II, a/k/a The Immaculate Deception, a/k/a The One He Has Been Waiting For).

NOT-POTUS is distributed throughout the United States in clusters of no less than one dozen tele-prompters with no less than two clusters in each zip code in the United States. This distribution is critical to address the possibility, however remote, that a Democrat 2010 candidate for U. S. Congress or Senate wants to be in the same zip code with POTUS.

Glenn Beck’s control of SCAT-POTUS will become apparent when T-POTUS issues the following types of statements:
The powers of the Federal government are, and should be, limited by U. S. Constitution.
One of these days, I’m going to get a job that actually produces value.

I have never seen SCAT-POTUS, but how else to account for all the crap coming out of the White House for the past eighteen months?

Sincerely,
Wing Commander Will E. Boy, Vast Right Wing Conspiracy

Remember Morton Downey Jr.? Yeah -- neither do a lot of people. But he dominated television talk in the late 80's, and became increasingly bizarre as he appealed to increasingly more extreme elements of his audience. Ultimately, faced with falling ratings, he staged a "skin-head hate attack" in an airport restroom, emerging with his head shaved and a swastika drawn on his face... Not long after that he lost his show...

Dear Sarah and Crazee Glen are heading down a similar path. If she (they) were to somehow make it through the primaries and into the general election, her defeat would be so resounding, so personally destructive, that she'd spend the rest of her days enumerating those who done her wrong, leading to her defeat, eventually staging her own airport restroom scene in a desperate attempt to remain relevant.

Remember, 65% of the nation think she is unqualified to be President. That number would grow, not shrink, as she took the lead in a national campaign.

Let's see... who do I despise more - Glenn ("I'm so patriotic!") Beck, or Sarah ("Aren't I pretty?") Palin? Hmmm... It's gotta be the Beckster edging out the twittering Palinator with his complete lack of ... well, any redeeming qualities whatsoever. As despicable as they are though, I would LOVE to see them appear together on the GOP ticket, or better yet, on the Tea Party ticket, dividing the conservatives. Sweet!
