There's no point in comparing apples to oranges. They both look good, that's all there is to say. If they were both in Western clothing, or both wearing the traditional costumes of their respective countries, then we'd have a real conversation.

Wrong! As a matter of fact the comparison is apt, what the Malawian lady is wearing is African alright but much in the same way as you would describe the Bettina's attire as European. The Malawian first lady's garb is not "a traditional costume". but rather quasi-formal mode of dressing favored by most sub-Saharan women from Ghana to Zimbabwe.The inspiration for the design could be European and sometimes is.
It is very much comparable to what a lady in the west may wear to a formal gathering or to church for example. There are attire that one may classify as traditional costume but this inst it.

I disagree that it is comparable. You wouldn't see anyone who isn't African for the most part wearing such an outfit. It is more costume to non-Africans. Whereas what Bettina is wearing can be worn by anyone else from any culture, it is more mainstream, standard clothing. And before you say I don't get it cause i'm not African, I AM.

Actually for the first time in many years we seem to have an exceptionally large number of attractive first ladies around the world, the USA included for a change. Also they all seem to have a higher level of understanding and knowledge than most. It's been a long time since we in the USA were able to say that.

Don't like either of these outfits. Ugly bold print. It's also too matchy matchy with the head scarf . The gray suit is too stiff looking. Looks like she's dressed for winter...and what's with the seam going down the front of the skirt? Horrible!

No matter where your lot is in life, you need to feel that.
