Stupid story that proves nothing! Lost male drivers are going to waste gas or they would not be lost in the first place!

Sex has nothing to do with it!

Are lost women also going to waste gas? A more accurate comment might be that lost drivers waste gas!

If a male is truly lost he will ask for directions as would any other driver!

If I judge by the number of sexist comments from men here, the study has touched a nerve.

Its a bit of a sexist study to begin with! :>)

3000 dollars for gas now, is like a drive from your house to the next block if you live in a city, they probably just wandered off track for about 5 minutes and turned around to get back on course because us men don't need no direction because are women tell us where to go...lol..

Now what?

One of my gay male friends drives me crazy with this. We've driven around for an hour or more lost on more than one occasion because he refuses to stop and ask for directions. So gay men are no different. But not all men are like that. I'm not and most other men I know, gay or straight, are not like that.
07:17 PM on 09/03/2010
I must say that I've never been lost, except when trying to follow directions given to me by a woman.
08:45 PM on 09/03/2010
There hasn't been this much scapegoating of women since Adam blamed Eve for being expelled from the Garden of Eden.

Guess the article touched a nerve.
09:51 AM on 09/04/2010
Was that one particular woman, or are you refering to multiple experiences?

I wonder if the issue will change as GPS becomes more prevalent - - some male drivers will refuse to use GPS because they always think that they know how to get there already : )

I'd bet on this one. I know two men who refused to use their navigation because, as one said, "I could have gotten there faster if I would have followed my own directions." ;)

Lost my beautiful navigator/co-pilot last year. I can still hear her in her sweetest, most loving voice, "Yes, honey, the exit you just passed." My soul aches.

I'm sorry for your loss. And thanks for the smile, it's the same phrase I use with my husband when he's behind the wheel.

Well, I'm glad to know there are other women out there who recognize the fragility of mens egos and have the skill to navigate and placate, simultaneously. ;) Fanned!

Women waste thousands of hours stopping to ask for directions, just another excuse to talk.

Obviously you're not from the south, if you think that women talk more than men.

Sorry but I don't buy that!

My own theory is that some guys navigate more by their sense of direction than by really knowing where their destination is!

They usually FIND THE DESTINATION within minutes of distractions and setbacks!

LOL @ "study". Somehow, I wouldn't be surprised if this was funded by the Obama recovery act. So what...waste is something we all do. Move on.

The heuristic truth here is undeniable, regardless of methodology. Live with it, guys.
02:56 PM on 09/03/2010
That's right. The study was done not so much for any real informational value. It's real purpose was intended to boost the low self-esteem of female shopping addicts that easily waste an exponentially higher amount of energy scurrying about frantically in their pointless and endless quest for sales at the mall.
03:45 PM on 09/03/2010
What does driving have to do with shopping addicts?

Or try to figure out why this might be so and make a rational choice not to do so in the future.

I live in europe and virtually everyone here has a Nav system in phone or built into car.

I use mine constantly................talks me directly to any address in Western Europe.

Best thing since sliced bread.
