PHOTOS: 12 Of Greenpeace's Summer Protests From Around The World

Huffington Post     First Posted: 8/20/10   Updated: 5/25/11

From Mexico City to Malta, Berlin to Hong Kong, Greenpeace created impressive protests against environmental injustices this summer. Protesters wore hazardous waste uniforms, drenched themselves in mock oil, doused ducks in chocolate syrup and dropped banners from rooftops all in the name of green peace.

Check out our slideshow roundup of this summer's Greenpeace protests. Vote on your favorites and, as always, tell us what you think in the comments.

i think greenpeace is a nice idea, but they go about it the wrong way. i've talked to some of these folks before and the majority i've met have no clue what they are talking about. you need to work in an industry say as an environmental engineer to understand how things really work.

if you look at the staff of greenpeace, none of them have their degrees in anything environmentally related. i feel like that should be a prerequisite.

Eco-terrorism is still terrorism. they are willing to pollute for a photo-op, the ends justify the means?

Greenpeace is doing great. Those hazmat suits they wear aren't always for show. Green Peace really goes where the action is at, they don't just demonstrate for show.

They certainly do great work as the silent partner for coal companies.

And the "smoke" coming from their oil can is most likely generated by dry ice. Dry ice is just frozen CO2. So in effect their demonstration is polluting the atmosphere with GHG. Seems kinda hypocritical doesn't it?

These are the same Ideologically driven organizations that ultimately believe that Humans are Parasites... I think we have a recent eco-terrorist with a beautifully exposing manifesto on how these people think.

Life is Good, and YOU are the parasites.

Greenpeace is good. You must make a distinction between a responsible organization and an individual flake who followed in the footsteps of Ted Kazinsky.

Al Gore is good, but it seems Al (aka sex crazed Poodle) had a hand in radicalizing this guy. so tell me a little more about the "concerns" Green Peace has on world population?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenpeace Within the article, find references on "Family Planning" and "Population Control" and make your own judgement on what their agenda really is.

Yep, they do a good job.

The charitable oversight group Public Interest Watch filed a complaint with the IRS charging Greenpeace with making such illegal transfers. In a report entitled "Green-Peace, Dirty Money: Tax Violations in the World of Non-Profits," Public Interest Watch found that Greenpeace Fund, a 501(c)(3) transferred over $10 million in exempt funds to non-exempt Greenpeace organizations such as Greenpeace, Inc. between 1998 and 2000.

Greenpeace, Inc. and other non-exempt Greenpeace entities benefiting from these transfers have committed numerous acts of eco-terrorism. They have blockaded a U.S. naval base, broken into the central control building of a nuclear power station in England, overrun the Exxon Mobil corporate headquarters in Texas, and rammed a ship into the French sailboat competing in the 2003 America's Cup, permanently damaging the vessel.

In April 2002, Greenpeace activists forcibly boarded a cargo ship in Florida carrying Brazilian wood. In connection with this incident, federal prosecutors indicted Greenpeace in July for violating an 1872 law prohibiting the unauthorized boarding of "any vessel about to arrive at the place of her destination."
