Yoko: John Lennon Still Helps Me

Yoko John Lennon

LONDON — Yoko Ono says John Lennon is still helping her in her endeavours as an artist and peace activist as she pays tribute to her late husband before what would have been his 70th birthday.

Ono visited Lennon's childhood home and school in northern England's Liverpool on Friday. She was welcomed by hundreds of students at Dovedale School, before she went to the semi-detached family home that Lennon shared with his aunt from 1945 to 1963.

The musician was shot outside his New York home in 1980, when he was 40 years old. He would have been 70 on Oct. 9.

Ono will travel from her home in New York to Iceland on Lennon's birthday to light the Imagine Peace Tower, an illuminated memorial.

Yoko's Plastic Ono Band album (not to be confused with John's album of the same name) is an exceptionally good avant-rock album, similar to the best early 70's kraut-rock bands like Can or Faust. The song "Greenfield Morning I Pushed an Empty Baby Carriage All Over the City" is absolutely fantastic.

I love Yoko and the courage that she gave to John to be who he really wanted to be. They inspired millions of people to see that peace will only be achieved when we stop allowing religious factions to divide us. This came only after he learned of Yoko's experiences and the hell of Vietnam. They had a lot to do with ending that war. People always love to talk about peace but very few are willing to risk their lives and popularity in order to bring it about. John and Yoko did. We are a much better people because of the gifts they shared with us. Imagine world peace. You will never be able to find that if you live your life waiting for an afterlife and a war to end the world.

Yoko Ono ruined every song that her horrible 'voice' was put on.

Luck of the Irish goes from a beautiful protest song to dead cat nails on a chalk board the moment she opens her mouth.

Their relationship was all hype, it had plenty of fiction put in to create a myth, everyone knows that. Did they love each other as much as they say? no not really. Depending on John's mood, he was really into her and other times he had a sick fasination with her because of his mommy issues. She may not have been the in reason why the beatles broke up but she was definitely the factor why they never reunited.

Okay, at this point I am compelled to inform you that it's becoming a little repetitious.

Besides, has anyone actually disputed this assertion your personal demons are driving you to post over and over?

Lennon is 30 years gone now and people are still bashing his wife. All that ever mattered was what they felt for each other. Let it go.

The world would be a better place right now with John Lennon alive. If Yoko was good enough for John, she's good enough for any John Lennon fan. I salute you Yoko Ono Lennon.
