Kno

TechCrunch:

Marc Andreessen is normally enthusiastic about the startups he's invested in. Still, when I spoke to him last week about Kno, he surprised me by saying it will be "the most powerful tablet anyone has ever made." And he's backing up that claim with a new investment -- Andreessen Horowitz has put even more capital into the company as part of a new $46 million debt and equity round. Silicon Valley Bank and TriplePoint Capital also invested in the round.

Interesting. 14 inches is pretty damned large though, I'd like to see a couple inches shaved off of that, bring it down to 12" or less. Either way, it seems like it's marketed primarily to college students, and you won't have any problem fitting it into a backpack.

The iPad targets a completely different market, and I don't see how it can possibly compete with this. Let's hope it doesn't fade out like the Courier.

Looks interesting. Thanks @Kache for posting the url to the video.

I love how the open-minded A. devotees show up to claim A. victorious. Very predictable, and very funny.

Captain Hook had the first I-pad. So I guess Apple owes him big.

Neat concept BUT... it is essentially a two-sided notebook computer.

The battery needed to run all this for any period of time is going to be a killer and considering what is available has got to run pretty toasty. Charging while operating will be interesting. Don't forget the heat generated by having ro drive a high-speed network connection and all the computation to get the informatoin on the screen. My HTC (Windows Mobile) gets pretty toasty when I do stuff that involves a lot of network communications.

Fragility of the unit will also be a question. I'd make sure and get the 100% replacement warranty.

It will be interesting to see how they deal with seamlessly moving a cursor from one tablet to the other and then operating within one of the tablets with good resolution.

They're claiming 8 hr battery life.

The video shows dragging content of a textbook in one screen to the other screen to add to a sticky note. Looks pretty seamless.
