Nevada Senate 2010: Harry Reid Racks Up Republican Endorsements

The Huffington Post   Jeremy Binckes   First Posted: 09/08/10 01:23 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:35 PM ET

The GOP establishment's support for Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle has begun to dwindle since the controversial Tea Party-backed candidate began campaigning on an unconventional set of values and policies. Perhaps more damaging than Angle's lack of support from many within the Nevada GOP has been the fact that many of the state's most influential Republicans have endorsed her opponent, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Last week, Dawn Gibbons, former First Lady of Nevada, said that she would support Reid because of Angle's "extreme" stances on education. Gibbons was not the first to flee the rank-and-file, however. Other Republicans have cited Harry Reid's ability to bring funding to the state, as well as his leadership role which would be lost should a freshman Senator take his place. Reid lists over 130 Republican supporters on his website.

Check out the slideshow below of some of the more prominent Nevada Republicans who have endorsed Reid.

"Politics makes strange bed fellows".  So does a completely embarrassing candidate who equals the Grizzly Mama in her ignorance of the needs of this country. Sharron failed to follow the Grizzly Mama's MO and never engage in two way conversations with the media. Mama knows her own limitations and will only make statements from a controlled environment avoiding all risk of challenge. Unlike Palin,  Read More...

Good tactic by Reid, which puts Angle on the spot. Does she start attacking the growing list of Republican leaders as Republicans in Name Only or does she say "I didn't really mean all those extreme comments like about the lemonade."

Dear Harry Reid:
I'm proud of you. Everyone wrote you off, well, the Republicans mostly, and yet, here you are. A win is a win is a win. Go get'um Harry. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. We Democrats need all the help we can get to rid our congress of these Teabagger wanna be senators and whatever else they pretend to be running for. What a mess it would be if any of them win. Oh, we have much work to do Democrats. This is just too important. Leave the drama at the door and get busy; "let's do this". At least, we can laugh when the media has egg all over it's faces. Darned those "pontificators".

Harry Reid should be endorsed by all Republicans as he turned the Senate over to the minority party in his first year as leader.

Enabler-In-Chief to Bush and Cheney. Even Sharron Angle should give him credit for that.
