Really, how stupid it is to have something fun and silly and actually cheap enough that most kids can participate. It's not fair to the in-crowd kids when it isn't clear just which of the poorer kids they're supposed to treat like pariahs for not having the cool stuff.

This brings back some of my worst childhood experiences. We didn't have much money. I can totally see my Mom getting me a box of plain old rubber bands while the rest of my friends would have the cool SillyBandz...Oh, the humiliation....Thanks, Mom!

Ha! I Googled them. Now I finally know the official name for them! We wore a million of them at one time. It was also cool to connect two together and slip your arm through them, forming kind of an arm band.
