Glenn Beck To Donate Fee From Alaska Appearance

Glenn Beck

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Representatives say Glenn Beck will donate his speaking fee from his upcoming appearance with Sarah Palin in Anchorage.

Christopher Balfe, president of Beck's media company, says the fee from Saturday's event at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The organization provides scholarships and services to families of military members.

The amount is not being disclosed.

Balfe says Palin is not receiving a fee for introducing the Fox News Channel personality at the event, taking place on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Tickets range from $73.75 to $225. Therin Ferrin, with a private contractor that operates the city's convention centers, says all but 800 of 4,500 tickets had been sold.

Reason? It was reported by the media that Beck and $arah were charging a fee on a sacred day to hear them speak! Beck thought better give some dinero back. $arah stayed quiet!

You know, there's a part of me that wants to criticize everything that Glenn Beck does, but maybe in this instance I can simply say "good for him."
01:35 PM on 09/14/2010
Why? Looks like he decided to donate the fee at the 11th hour. Probably realized that it was really tacky only after somebody told him.

I can't know his true reason for making this donation, though there is a strong indication that what you say could be true. Nevertheless, his action of making this donation was a good thing. Let's face it, he has plenty of bad acts that can be criticized. Let's not discourage the very few good acts he performs.

If its true. He says this about everything but we have no reason to believe that it actually happens. Plus which, even if he does, he will more than make it up.

Beck recently signed a $32 million dollar deal with Fox,
so I guess he can afford to donate a few sheckles to
some charity, now and again.

....and then.....aren't charitable donations.....deductible?

Isn't Special Operations Warrior Foundation under investigation for delivering very little to the kids, and something like 80% of the money taken in going on fees and expenses?
12:36 AM on 09/14/2010
No its not.

could it be that Beck will donate his fees to SP and the next time she will donate her fees to Beck? It is amazing these two self-promoting twits have any following at all.

I listened to the First Lady Michelle and former First Lady Laura and their speeches were touching and inspirational annnnnnd it was FREE!

Then there was FLOTP Sarah Palin (First Lady Of Trailer Parks) - the biggest grifter known to all mankind and she just happened to appear in Wasilla unexpectedly (LOL) and apologized for being late for her unexpected appearance and her unexpected prepared speech …

Okay... let me understand this...Sarah… not expected, apologized and had an unexpected prepared speech… a prepared speech?

Then proceeded to tell us she was late because had activities for her kids! Okay which Palin kid needed bailing out of jail on 9-11?

SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

Of course he's going to donate the pennies now that the media has grilled him and Palin because they are gold diggers using 9/11 for profit.
08:11 PM on 09/13/2010
Ok first of all, Palin does not make any profits from any of her speeches. She doesn't even ask so get your facts right before you start spit balling lies online. Second they were already donating the money that the 8,000 people willingly paid, to go and see some people who actually care about this country speak. Huffington Post lied to you guys just as they always do.

Where in the world did you get the idea this little gold digger doesn't get paid for any of her speeches?
" Since leaving office at the end of July 2009, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee has brought in at least 100 times her old salary – a haul now estimated at more than $12 million -- through television and book deals and a heavy schedule of speaking appearances worth five and six figures. "

As you can see she gets " a heavy schedule of speaking appearances worth five and six figures. "
And thats ABC news Not Huffpost....but Huffpost would be just as reliable source. You of course gave no source just some emotional teabagger republican excuse for rhetoric!

Speaking fees and proceeds are different things...where are the proceeds going?
06:24 AM on 09/13/2010
Just about to post the same thing. Thank you. Often the money is in the proceeds not the person's fee. Makes him look good while he pockets a substantial amount of cash. Gross.
09:58 AM on 09/13/2010
Answer the question BECK! Where are the proceeds going to?

Palin got something out of this.... nothing is free to a Grifter...

You can bet Palin made her average speaking fees. Anyone who walks out on her responsibilities as govenor to her home state to go gold digging doesn't care much about anything but the "Profits! Which makes her a typical Corporate Republican.

Beck, well he's just a rodeo clown.....no offense meant to actual rodeo clowns in the comparrison. They actually do honest work.
02:27 AM on 09/13/2010
Doesn't Al Gore make $175K per speaking fee and Bill clinton make $150K for his speeches. I wonder if they donate their fees to charity?
03:27 AM on 09/13/2010

And the latest...Bristol Palin receiving speaking fees...$14K to speak to a high school in NJ...about ??????? How not to get pregnant? The not so reliable course of abstinence? Things our children aldreay know and for the most part practice better than the Palins! They all need to go back to school themselves and stop invading our schools and our communities with their down-right propaganda!
06:27 AM on 09/13/2010
Everyone makes money for their speeches, nothing wrong with that. The problem here is that they are making money off of a national tragedy--and draping themselves in the flag as they do it. Repulsive.
