ATLANTA — A woman has filed a temporary restraining order against TV analyst and former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe.

The woman filed the petition on Thursday in Atlanta's Fulton County Superior Court. The case is classified under the "family violence" category.

No court hearing has been scheduled. It was not immediately clear why the restraining order was filed.

The ex-Denver Bronco and Baltimore Raven is under consideration for the Hall of Fame. He is currently an analyst for CBS.

A representative for Sharpe could not be immediately located and officials at CBS Sports declined to comment on Saturday.

Suspect that this may be a "non-news" piece of "news", temporary restraining orders have no meaning in most cases other than someone is mad at someone else. To many judges grant these with ZERO proof of threat or injury...

I have worked on emergency TRO's in a family court setting, and certain grounds must be met before one is granted by a Judge.

I wish his family the best in a trying time.

I'm watching Sharpe as we speak; really a personable kind of guy. Loved him as a Denver Bronco and now as a commentator. In regards to the restraining order, my son is going through a divorce and his bitchy wife filed a restraining order for no reason... just to cause more problems with their 'settlement'... my son's attorney made it very clear that so many women abuse restraining orders nowadays just to add more drama to a couple's already emotional 'hell.' Not all restraining orders have any substance to them, just another part of the game that women play as a controlling factor.

sad, but very true. There may be nothing to this at all. Remember when Harold Reynolds (I think that was his name) was a baseball analyst for ESPN and some woman said he hit her, then ESPN fired him and then she took her story back less then 48 hours (she said she did it because she was mad at him) after she initially came forward and he was fired.

Woman can be very hateful and vengeful with no thought of the consequences of their actions.

He never should have gone to Baltimore.  They taught him bad things.

As a denizen of the Baltimore region, I must strenuously object! Unless, if by "bad things" you mean lessons in how to luv eating boiled crabs and corn seasoned with Old Bay ...
