First Posted: 09/12/10 02:13 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:35 PM ET

Die-hard fans of "Star Trek" can probably give perfectly logical explanations for all these bizarre photos, but even lifelong Trekkies can admit these situations look amazingly silly. With its non-convincing alien monsters, to its cleverly disguised dogs and cat-like Tribbles, "Star Trek" is one sci-fi franchise that has provided plenty of comedic material over the years. Check out the funniest stills we could find below, and if you've got any yourself, share them by uploading a still and adding a caption!

you missed a glorious one... in Where No Man Has Gone Before from the 1st season with Krik and company... a dude is being attacked by tubing controlled by a human with extraordinary powers... as it grabs him and he leans back on the console his "privates" are in full display as an outline. it's quite impressive. not visible to the viewers and technology of the 60's but in the new reformatted digital version it's quite noticeable.

here's a link in photbucket

Just let me vent...You mean they couldn't find any funny photo stills of Captain Benjamin Sisko or Captain Katherine Janeway? Does it always have to be about Kirk and Picard, as if no other captains in the Star Trek franchise exist?

Hey now, don't forget Captain Jonathan Archer.

Way to kill the franchise, Bakula!

To be fair that song at the beginning of Enterprise did most of the damage.

I think the dog in the first photo is thinking "I can't wait until he puts me down, I am going to run over and bite the guy that talks funny"

William Shatner made a great tongue-in-cheek hero, laying the blue print for most of the other captains who followed.

Scott Bakula was the least satisfying captain, to my way of thinking, because he tried to play it as serious drama. IMO, Star Trek is best as comedy or melodrama, with a serious dose of science thrown in.

Agreed. You know, I feel that the studio was trying so desperately to keep the cash farm that was Trek going that they killed the fun of it. That's why - say what you will - I really enjoyed the 2009 movie.

I don't remember which one of the Star Trek movies it was, but my favorite scene was when (I think it was) Khan was hanging on to the edge of the cliff and Captain Kirk kicked him in the face repeatedly while saying "I have had enough of you'!

That was actually Kruge, not Khan, in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock". Played of course by Christopher Lloyd.

absolutely love the original series and all of its glory! glory meaning awful costumes, set designs, over dramatic acting, etc :)

It's true that the first Star Trek had rather cheezier aliens and special effects than later versions. But what they did with these crude props was stupendous----it made the whole franchise
12:56 AM on 09/22/2010
You got it. You have to look at the time that it appeared--there was nothing else like it on TV, and it was light-years ahead of other Sci-Fi on TV in the 60s. They had only a shoe-string budget to work with, but they did pretty well with what they had. No computers for special effects in the 60s. Lighting is cheaper than special effects--watch a Star Trek episode and look for all the bizarre and contrasting colors they used just to make things look alien. Clever, especially when you don't have a million buckazoids to spend on each episode.
