Tiger

NPR:

The injured tiger hunted Markov down in a way that appears to be chillingly premeditated. The tiger staked out Markov's cabin, systematically destroyed anything that had Markov's scent on it, and then waited by the front door for Markov to come home.

I read the book just as it came out. It is an awesome read. You feel sympathy both for the men and the beast. Can easily be made into a movie like 'Jaws'.

I had no idea tigers were that smart. good thing they don't have opposible thumbs or they'd be growing us for food the way we grow cows.

the human over-population situation is out of control. but just try telling anyone to hold off having kids and they will look at you like you're the devil. a woman I work with got pregnant and this was right after she told me all these plans about saving up for a new house (this was back in 07). so I asked her if she was considering abortion and this other woman looked at me like I was the devil. people just pop out kids like it's the in thing, absolutely no one on this earth considers the consequences. I like kids but I don't want to have any (it's just too much work for me to bring up a child) and this other coworker asked me about it. I told her no way am I having kids and she told me I was selfish. WTF?

Evolution works. Tigers are growing wise to the insidious plague of a species whose out of control multiplication is consuming the skin of the Earth akin to flesh eating bacteria.

I am impressed by the tiger. There has to be a workable way for humans to limit their reproduction so that they do not destroy habitat and then are astonished when the animals they have displaced, starved and driven to extinction are not willing to go quietly.
Tigers are highly intelligent and I am not surprised that this tiger "stalked" this man over a period of days. Of course they can remember things for a long time and it's not like it had a couple of dozen cabins to choose from. It was a totally isolated cabin.
Sorry, but I am pro-tiger.

One day we will understand that animals feel and think just like us. Hopefully we won't have wiped them all out by then.
