So... hopefully an appeal to reason in an otherwise unreasonable television network can shake people up a bit who only listen to Fox News.

This should be awesome, and unfortunately for orielly, humbling. Stewart is a very well read, very intelligent, very quick witted intellect who is very well versed in history and a political junkie, and oreilly, well, he's a bully who likes to yell and cut off his guests microphones to prevent intelligent rebuttals to his outlandish interpretations of reality.

Absolutely. Liberals will obviously disagree with O'Reilly on any number of issues but to assume he is some sort of idiot is a foolhardy assumption. Jon knows this and is well-aware to be on his game when both hosting and appearing with the most successful political cable news pundit of our time.

Credit to O'Reilly for thinking in parallel terms with Stewart. I've seen them together and I think they both have a mutual respect for each other's talent and success.

Begs the question why? Kind of like President Obama thinking he can gain the support of the party of No. This is not a love-hate relationship - this is a made for tv ratings hype for which Jon Stewart doesn't need the help of Fixed and Unbalanced News viewers.

What I love about O'Reilly is that has Walter Winchel aire of unlimited concete about him as (punits do) here is guy who is just dying to make his mark on history. What a stupid thing to wish? I love the outrage, I love indignation and I love the fact that he is still that poor confused awkward and wilful basketball player who thinks people look up to him.
Hey Bill, people only look up to if you are standing up.
There is a wide gulf between thinking you know something and knowing something. Bill always cracked me up because he thinks that knowledge is some kind of a decision one makes. There is an element of the "unknown and unknowable" which Bill is afraid to admit even exists.

The quest for higher ratings makes for strange bedfellows.

Sept 22 is marked on my calendar as I am sure it will be a good show along with the 27th. I might even tune to the Fox channel to watch it.

Just one reason why Bill O'Reilly has the highest rated show for his time slot. That promises to be an entertaining episode.

Yes I am afraid.
Afraid of throwing up knowing that I might have to watch Billo for at least 30 minutes before Jon Stewart comes on.
Knowing that, I would be in the bathroom puking and missing the interview.

Why does Stewart do this?   O'Reilly will milk this interview for a week or more, talking about it for several days before and then again for several days after.  He'll have on some of his 'buddies' to trash Stewart and agree with him that he (O'Reilly) prevailed in the interview.  He may even have that goofy body language lady on to dissect Stewart's every move.

But, this is good for O'Reilly because he suffers from a 'lack of guests' syndrome.  Stewart has more interesting and important guests on in one week than O'Reilly does in one year.  Billo brags about 'exclusive interviews' with people such as Martha McCullum, another Fox employee.  Billo doesn't dare do his interview with a live audience as does Stewart.
02:59 AM on 09/17/2010
Not to forget that Billo will edit the interview to make him look better, like he did the last time.

Expect Stewart to make some provocative comment about Obama to get O'Reilly's audience to like him enough to buy his book, which won't happen. And O'Reilly will say something provocative about Republicans to get Stewart's audience to buy his book, which won't happen. AMERICA, WAKE UP!

You realize of course that over on the Fox site there are probably an equal number of closed minded dolts getting the vapors over O"Reilly going on with Stewart.

Why would we, we enjoy comedy as much as anyone, the difference with us is we know it is comedy and not news.

the best lambasting of bill i've ever seen was actually done when he visited david letterman a few years ago. letterman really took him to the cleaners, it was really surprising. otherwise, usually these thing are much ado about nothing - really uneventful.
