Carl Paladino's CRAZIEST Lines: From Welfare Prison Dorms To Slamming Sarah Palin (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 09/17/10 12:48 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:40 PM ET

Conservative candidate Carl Paladino, who swiped New York's Republican gubernatorial nomination over establishment pick Rick Lazio earlier this week, has developed quite the reputation for making incendiary remarks that often cross the line.

Amid controversy swirling over a series of racist and graphic e-mails forwarded by Paladino to friends and colleagues earlier this year, the Tea Party contender himself admitted, "I'm not politically correct and never have been." He added, "I'm not perfect. But if the worst I ever did was send out some non-politically correct e-mails, my God."

So, what are some of the most eyebrow-raising and jaw-dropping claims Paladino has made over the years?

Take a look:

Paterson 'A Wimp,' Pataki A 'Degenerate Idiot'
1 of 11
Paladino doesn't mince words when it comes to spelling out his distaste for the man he's vying to replace as Governor of New York. The same goes for his predecessor.

The New York Daily News reports:

He told building contractors in Ronkonkoma that Gov. Paterson was "a wimp . . . really, he's pathetic." Former Gov. George Pataki? He's a "degenerate idiot."

Saying what's on his mind is nothing special -- I can find you a ton of people who have little in the way of self-censoring circuits between their mind and their mouth. What matters is the substance of what they say...

Paladino has unleashed some real zingers, some dubious comments. and some outright hateful ond/or racist diatribes. I don't want a guy like that as the Chief Executive of my state...

That being said, I acknowledge his candidacy is for real, as is his chance of getting elected. The State House is an egregious mess. The undercurrents of anger and antipathy towards Obama are waves that could carry Paladino into office unless clear-thinking people get off their butts and VOTE!

Anyone in New York who voted Obama for change and then votes for Andrew Cuomo is a complete hypocrite. Cuomo is the establishment!

One of the bits that puzzled me was that you apparently have "underused state prisons". An enviable condition; in Australia, as far as I can tell every state prison is groaning at the seams and we're building more of them every year.

"welfare prisions"

Didn't have to wait long for one of these Tea Party folks to say it's time to bring back work houses.

Welfare prison dorms? You mean the ones the bank executives who ruined the economy AREN'T in?
10:54 PM on 09/20/2010
Yeah I wonder if good ole Paladino is up for tossing the corporate welfare junkies into debtors prison dorms. While hes tackling welfare and handing out bars of soap to poor people so they wont be so dirty, how about he spray down the GOP because they need a good cleaning too.
06:13 PM on 09/25/2010
perhaps the for profit prison industry will benefit, isn't Paladingo in construction? hmm.

Ask any conservative to define the phrase "the common good" without using the words common or good. They can't do it because they don't know what it means. And that is our elected officials are supposed to do, work to promote the common good. Then ask them to define "govern" without using the work govern. They can't do that either because they don't know what it entails.

An eternally optimistic skeptic.

Heh... You may not like Joe Arpaio's political stance, but at least he's intelligent and, although very conservative and old school, he's not a flaming wingnut cuckoo like this Paladino character. OMG! Paladino is like something out of Central Casting. He has "knuckle-draggin thug" stamped on his forehead. Right out of a 1950's gangster movie.

Joe is costing Arizona millions in lawsuits and lost revenues. Once Joe realizes that there are laws that he must follow the way they are interpreted by courts, including Federal Courts, he will put away the way he wants things to be and follow the law to the letter. He may not like the interpretation of the law but he is there to enforce not interpret. Both of these guys are wing- os in their own right. Joe is not using his intelligence to really discern his actions as sheriff. He can only see his side of each issue. I hope the idea of a police state does not spread past Arizona's borders.

You mean "Secret Service" or SS/nazi's - I think the last one fits better, what do you think? LOL

By all means your second. His tactics are similar in nature except for final gsssssssss!!!

Palidino gives Buffalo a bad name. Buffalo is a fine place with a great football team history, a great hockey history and even has chicken wings. What Buffalo does not need at this time is a rich guy who sends out racist E-mails to folks on his list while suggesting that prisons would be a good place for Welfare folks to get hygene training.
I understand how he won the primary because Lazio is probably the most flawed of characters in the state and should have long ago faded into the woodwork. But Cuomo has support in the state not the least of which is from how he has taken on Wall Street.

AHHH, New York State Politics.
03:51 PM on 09/19/2010
Thanks for putting a good word in for Buffalo. I shudder to think that we're associated with someone who thinks minorities deserve labels and ridicule.

Even though I live in VT, I listen to WWKB at night. Interesting line-up. Thanx, Buffalo.
