Right Nation 2010 In Chicago: Glenn Beck Headlines, Journalists Not Invited (VIDEO)

Glenn Beck. File.

Do you cherish freedom? Do you want to stop the Democrats from turning the United States government into a socialist regime? Do you have $77 to $1,200? If so, then the folks behind Right Nation 2010 think you should join them in Hoffman Estates this weekend.

FOX News pundit Glenn Beck headlines the Saturday event, which apparently aims to invigorate conservative political activism in the Midwest.

In an ominous and fear-mongering trailer for the event, Ronald Reagan explains that "our country is in danger," while text calls on the people of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin to save our freedom.

Then, there is audio from a 1962 Reagan speech:

"You will awake to find, that we have socialism. If you don't do this, and if I don't do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children, and telling our children's children what it once was like in America, when men were free." (Scroll down for the video)

The event is geared toward Republicans, Tea Partiers, Independents and basically any other conservative political group, who have one thing in common: The belief that the "left" has "destroyed our states and nation."

Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart, "Midwest young gun" Aaron Schock, Majority Leader Dick Armey, recently-prominent black Tea Partier Herman Cain, House Minority Leader Tom Cross, Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno and Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady will also be on hand Saturday.

Republican Senate candidate Mark Kirk will not be attending the event, and his opponent Alexi Giannoulias is hoping the event will stir up support for Libertarian candidate Mike Labno. According to Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Giannoulias campaign has been attempting to get Labno's name out there--hoping he will appeal to conservatives who find Mark Kirk too moderate.

"I want to thank Alexi," Labno told Sweet, adding that he didn't care if Giannoulias was using him to take votes from Kirk. "I'm sure that is part of it. ... I appreciate him getting my name out and helping my campaign."

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady saw early support among Tea Partiers in Illinois--but as his lead over Democratic Governor Pat Quinn grew, he distanced himself. He won't be attending Right Nation on Saturday, either.

"I think if he does not attend Right Nation then it's safe to say he's distancing himself from the Tea Party," Chicago-area Tea Party organizer Steve Stevlic told NBC Chicago. "...He's lucky he's running against Pat Quinn."

Also not in attendance Saturday? Journalists. From Gawker:

. . . a Chicago journalist who tried to get press credentials was told this week, "We are still not certain that press will be allowed into the arena for the event," so no press credentials have been issued yet. No press credentials at all! Freedom!

Tickets to the Sears Centre Arena start at $77 and go up to $1,200 for a meet-and-greet with Glenn Beck. The Chicago Tribune reports that people from all across the country will be in attendance.

"It's a massive rally for victory in November," Right Nation spokesman Collin Corbett told the Tribune. "It's all designed to generate some excitement, unity and support for our candidates."

Proceeds from the event will go to conservative campaigns, according to the Tribune, but Right Nation does not endorse any specific candidates, because it's meant to appeal to a broad audience.

(UPDATE: The original post mistakingly attributed the "socialism" quote to Glenn Beck. In fact, the quote is from a speech Reagan made in 1962. He was discussing how Medicare would lead to the destruction of American democracy.)

One thing is advising about investing in Gold as a metal commodity to build a portfolio like Donald Trump did and another is spreading conspiracy theories to con people into investing in gold which is speculation and at the same time being a paid advertiser to scam a person into buying overpriced gold coins from one specific dealer deceiving investors about the real present melt and numismatic value of the gold coins Goldline sells, it is time to ASK WHY; let’s see how Glenn Beck’s testimony before Congress about his “USA is going down so buy overpriced Gold coins from meâ€-con goes. Remember ENRON and Jeffrey Skilling…Anyone…history repeat itself …next headlines Goldline and Glenn Beck indicted. I can wait to see if Beck will be able to avoid indictment for using sedition to accomplish illicit enrichment, by taking the fifth or shedding crocodile tears.

Yes, I cherish my personal freedom, which is why the Tea Party/GOP should not be elected into power, which is why Boss Hogg Beck should go away, which is why the lead paragraph of this story is another example of how this place is clearly in support of the TP.

How ANY person could listen to Glen Beck, without laughing out loud, amazes me. The man never let anything as trivial as a fact shade his reporting. He is a consumate liar, and a journalistic fraud. On the up side...you could buy overpriced gold from him. Isn't it time Fox news went out of business. Race baiting, hate mongering, and kissing the butt of conservatives have nothing to do with news.

I'm sure Fox's people will be there, including Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter. Of course, since they're not journalists, they don't need credentials.

What is Beck afraid of? That we'll see comparisons between his rally and that of Adolf Hitler's Nüremburg Rally?

Or that we'll see rich and paranoid far right extremists scurrying like cockroaches the minute the camera lights switch on.

What are you hiding, Glenn?
If you truly believe in your heart and religious soul that the Tea Party has the solutions to American's problems and the Dems are wrong for American, you should be shouting it from the rooftops! You should be begging ALL journalists to come to your meetings and events - public OR secret meetings.

The fact that journalists aren't invited makes me a little skeptical. Maybe The Tea Party has NO solutions to our problems. Maybe you're in this just to make some bucks and when your "income" is threatened because one of your Tea Party, Rising Stars, (O'Donnell) turns out to be bad for your Tea Party image, all of a sudden it's "NO Journalists".

I don't get it. Explain this to us, Glenn? You're not just in this for the money are you?

Say it ain't so, Glenn. Say it ain't so...

They were there, lots of them. I don't know who told Huffington Post that there was no press, but they lied. Check it out for yourself and google the news for Right Nation 2010 and you'll see just how many bloggers, photographers and journalists were there.

So did Beck. For months he said he was holding a rally on the anniversary of MLKs famous speech and then when he came under fire for it, he claimed he didn't know that's when it was. Which means he's either a liar and you people are wiling to overlook that or you all have the memory spans of goldfish. Neither one of which makes you look very good.

These idiots have been trying to use this Reagan speech (for which he actually recorded an entire album back in '62) for a while. You'd think, after these teabag doofuses screamed all last year about "leaving my Medicare alone" that they wouldn't flag that speech any more.

no journalists? I suppose that rule wouldn't include people from Fox News since they don't really qualify as journalists.

$77 to $1200 (for a meet-and-greet with Beck)… I would pay $2000 for a rubber bullitt target shoot with Beck.

"recently-prominent black Tea Partier Herman Cain" -- Denver's Ken Hamblin missed his opportunity to further claw forward in conservative poop culture… too bad he wears sports clothes and fedoras like a p/i/m/p.

It's nice to see all the prominent Republitards jumping aboard the PeeBag wagon, they're shaking off all the moderates and that's a god thing. This circus gets sillier all the time.
