Ben Affleck

Solid movie. Ben's latest directing effort is a solid one. He has a great pulse for keeping the action secondary to the plot, not letting the firearms overpower things. Perhaps after two or three more director roles, his style will become as recognizable as Eastwood's.

While this was not the perfect movie, given all the crappy schlock Hollywood continues to throw at us, so glad people went to see this movie. Well written, well acted and well directed. Affleck has grown as an actor and a director. Gone Baby Gone was amazing and this is too. So recommend this from jeremy renner to Blake Lively (not us another pretty face, she was smart to do this and distance herself Gossip Girl territory to avoid being typecast) to Aflleck.

Well done and worth dropping my daughter off for a playdate to see.

enough with Gigli!! you sound like a broken record. move on like the rest of us have and as ben has. so ben made a really bad film. Guess what he is not the first actor to have done the same. case in point; warren beatty (ishtar), jack nicholson (hells angels on wheels, back door to hell) to name only two actors. but i think you get the poing. oh and by the way, ben does not have to make up for Gigli to you.

Yeah, it will. Gigli wasn't great, but there are far worse movies. Quit piling on years after the fact.

So glad this did well this weekend, can't wait to see it. I happen to enjoy Ben as an actor also but maybe I'm easy to please. Check out Bounce if you haven't seen it with him and Gwyneth Paltrow I thought he was great in it.

I have really enjoyed a lot of Ben's smaller, quirkier movies he has done.  I really enjoyed Bounce.

Saw The Town this weekend and it was fantastic. Affleck shows that he is a fine actor, but he with this being only his second outing as a director, he has the makings of a great director. People have joked ever since he won his Oscar, but if Gone Baby Gone and now The Town are any indication of his directing talent, that Oscar will likely not be his last....

Jeremy Renner is always worth the price of admission

Gone Baby Gone was intese, disturbing and very good. I would have gone to see this just because I was so shocked at how good his directorial debut was. Glad to see that it seems this one is worth seeing also.

hate the titles of hp, the champ! come on now,
he would have pulled in even better if he had his long time pal, matt damen, in the movie; little jealously here, i see?
affleck, however, cannot compare, to the success of damen, you would have thunk!

I'm still confused by the headline. Must I see the movie to get it? How does one weekend make you the champ?
12:22 PM on 09/20/2010
Because it was the number one movie for this weekend? His movie was top spot this weekend, so he is the champ this week--pretty standard ratings for movies. Long term is another issue, but this weekend, his movie was the winner...

huh...only the Town Flower shop character (the one w/ the horrible skin) sounded muffled.

You know in our country, especially in the SOuth there are people who were born here and unless you are from that area you would probably say they were illiterate, ghetto/white trash, town-y and so forth

Affleck has come a long way since Dazed and Confused and has seemingly avoided the poisonous temptations that haunt many others in his profession. He's gifted at acting, screenwriting, and directing, and, if you have ever seen him on Bill Maher, he's pretty politically astute, as well.

Much more enjoyable spending my hard earned money at the box office in support of a man of his character.

He's lousy at acting. He's a good writer and possibly a good director.
01:22 PM on 09/20/2010
He's a good actor if he has a strong director or is focused on the story.

Definitely a good writer.

After Gone Baby Gone and The Town Definitely a good director.

Certainly better than M. Night, a guy who, for some reason, Hollywood keeps giving money and jobs to.

I agree about his acting.
I have a hard time paying for one of his movies because he's let me down to many times as an actor.

Regarding your poisonous temptations comment, how do you explain JLo/Gigli? I concur with the rest of your statement, however :)
