Hearst-Davies Mansion In Beverly Hills

Via LA Times: When publishing giant William Randolph Hearst finally left his beloved San Simeon ranch for health reasons, he moved into this Beverly Hills mansion that girlfriend Marion Davies purchased for him in 1946. He spent the last twenty years of his life at what was known as "The Beverly House," a Spanish and Italian style property with more than 50,000 square feet of living space on a 3.7 acre lot. Constructed in the 1920s by architect Gordon Kaufmann for banking executive Milton Getz, Davies purchased the property in 1946 for $120,000. The LA Times notes that the property was briefly listed at $165 million in 2007, and the 2010 price of $95 million reflects a 42% markdown in a "sign of the times."

The original listing boasts the Beverly House's star power: "In addition to hosting John and Jacqueline Kennedy during their honeymoon, Beverly House also played a character in the classic movies 'The Godfather' and 'The Bodyguard.' "
