You have to take a guided tour to ride a bike or hike to a waterfall?

How worthless does someone have to be to have a bicycle ride guide?

I was just up at the Dead River last week. It was so gorgeous, even though it was still a little early for intense fall foliage. We wanted to river raft, but unfortunately because it's the slow season they're only running the trips during the weekend. I'm originally from NH but now live in a hellhole called Florida. These pictures make me homesick.

One major reason for my onscreen name is that I find my home state absolutely gorgeous in the fall. The southern portions of the state especially are home to both northern and southern trees, so you can see a huge variety of fall foliage colors while traveling the state. We save lots of money every year by staying home and traveling local highways and byways to view the autumnal glory of Penn's Woods.

The Otter Trail

Undoubtedly the best known and most popular of the South African hiking trails, the Otter Trail must rank alongside the best trails in the world.
The Otter Trail follows the spectacular Garden Route coastline from Storms River Mouth to Nature's Valley in the Tsitsikamma National Park, in the Eastern Cape. The trail takes 5 days to complete and follows the rugged, rocky shoreline ranging in elevation from sea level to a height of more than 150m. Most of the trail follows cliff tops returning to sea level to cross rivers.

Though only 42.5 kms long, it is not an easy trail. Bookings for the trail can be made through the South African National Parks. The Otter Trail is popular with locals and foreigners alike, and more applications are received for bookings than can be accommodated. It is however, well worth the perseverance needed to obtain a booking.

As an avid cyclist, I feel unbelievably fortunate to live in rural Vermont. It's better than heaven, 'cause you're still alive.

As a Canadian, I ask you to join the growing international boycott of Alberta vacations. Until the province and the federal government address environmental issues in the Athabaska tar sands, we should all refuse to spend money in the province.

For me, closer to home, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Breathtaking.

Any guided hike by the Grand Canyon Field Institute. They run from easy to ridiculous and also help support the Park.

My employer does a 3-day Rogue River rafting trip every year where each get individual rafts and stay at lodges along the way. That alone is worth coming to work every day!

The Rogue River is awesome. Tons of great hikes, amazing wildlife, and fun rapids. We go every year with Northwest Rafting Company (http://www.nwrafting.com).

I love the fall and the winter time ... here in NC I am just waiting for cooler weather ... cool enough for the snakes to go in ... I love to take to the woods ... find old home places and look for bottles and sometime find old coins ... you never know what you will find .. when you start to dig in a old trash dump .. that is mostly underground .. it's full of little treasures ... all of these places in the article are nice .. but it doesn't cost me a dime to have a great day , at something I love doing .. and it's close to home ...
